The Rolling Stones have announced a 15 city tour for this summer, called the Zip Code Tour.

http://www.rollingstones.com/tickets/

Let's have some fun with it. Grin

Predict the following prices for the first show at Petco Park in San Diego:

-The most expensive "VIP" style ticket package price, each
-A regular floor/field ticket price with no perks attached
-Cheapest ticket price to get in the stadium, upper deck, SRO, whichever

Predict the closest to the amount without going over, Price Is Right style
Predict the ticket amount before any fees, just the flat face value price

We also need a tiebreaker. So...

Tickets go on sale April 13th.

-Predict the highest listed single ticket price on StubHub at noon Central on 4/13

This is all in fun, of course! Winner gets the title of Most Cynical Bastid When It Comes To Concert Ticket Prices on this board! Woot!

Starting off with my predictions:

Most expensive VIP: $999
Floor/field: $350
Get in the stadium: $150
StubHub on 4/13: $34,999

What say you?
Grin

$10.00

Oh wait ... that was the last time I saw the Stones at Arrowhead... 😉

I LOVE the Stones so will keep my eyes on the tour and ticket prices but won't be paying crazy amounts to see them (will have to let memories of some pretty great shows over the years keep my RS monkey fed).

As of this morning there were several shows on Ticketmaster and prices varies from $50-450 for the tickets so you can get cheap nosebleeds if you want to go

At least they are in your neck of the woods. I'm hoping Chuck and Karl Denson will cover some Stones tunes at Lockn'. I think you got the right idea Hemp. Wandering around the speedway listening to the Stones is a great way to spend a day.

geez, with nutty prices like that,I guess I can't complain about the $7.50 I paid to see them with Mick Taylor,Billy Preston,Keys & Stevie Wonder opening!! or the $35.00 just 10 years ago in Aussie's 2000 seater with Angus Young joining.
They were great shows!

Hey Hemp! That looks like a blast. I'd go with cheap seats and just dig the scene.

Of course, I pick the opening show in San Diego, one of two shows on the whole tour not using Ticketmaster, so I'm having a hard time finding prices...

But, there are ticket prices elsewhere. This is the top VIP deal, the Diamond Package:

THE DIAMOND VIP PACKAGE

One Incredible Top Price Reserved Floor Ticket in the First Five (5) Rows *

One Limited Edition, Silkscreened Rolling Stones Tour Poster
•Limited Edition, Silkscreened Tour Poster Designed Exclusively for The Rolling Stones Tour
•Each Limited Edition, Silkscreened Tour Poster Contains Individual Tour Date, City and Venue

The Essential Rolling Stones VIP Fan Pack
•Designed Exclusively for Rolling Stones VIP Package Purchasers
•Each VIP Fan Pack Contains Exclusive Rolling Stones Themed VIP Merchandise
•VIP Fan Packs Also Includes a Commemorative Rolling Stones VIP Laminate & Matching Lanyard
•Bonus – All VIP Fan Packs Come With an Official Rolling Stones Tour Program or Photobook

This is going in other cities for $1,795 face.

As of today, April 10th, the highest ticket on StubHub for the San Diego show is $8,972.25.

And people give these guys grief for touring at their age? Why the hell not? 😛

I think I'm gonna wait and see how I feel after watching The Dead simulcast. I think I can pick up a general admission for maybe 35-50 bucks day of show.

I am a big Stones and have seen every tour since 1975. Based on recent tours I can almost guarantee you that you will be able to grab a ticket day of show outside the stadium for under face value. IMHO they will not sell out these shows and there will be plenty of tickets available.

I went to three Stones shows this past year and due to slow sales and the criticism they got they came up with a scheme called "lucky dip tickets". This meant you could buy a ticket for $85 but you would not know where you were sitting until you showed up to pick your ticket up. You could get pit tickets in front of the stage or nosebleeds. I lucked out and got lower bowl seats for both Boston shows which were selling for $600.00 normally. The only ticket I paid full face, $300.00 for was the show in Singapore as I was there on business and figured it was a once in a lifetime experience.

The Promoter is also using what they call "flex pricing" which is a neat little scam. They ask obscene prices for tickets when they first go on sale to get the people who are afraid they will be shutout if they don't buy immediately and then progressively drop the price as they get closer to show date to sell unsold seats. Last year lower bowl arena seats that started at $600.00 could be had for less than $200.00 the week of the show.

If you can get a ticket cheap enough I would go as they still put on a good show but from my experience last tour Keef is really struggling with his playing so you never know what you will get these days from him.

yea last time they came to Indy I bought 10th row tickets for $15 each outside day of the show from a scalper, not someone looking to unload some extra's. at 1st he didn't want to and I laughed and offered him a plastic fork and a pack of ketchup to eat them with. he relented after that.

Agreed! More power to 'em. I never understood the criticisms of that, as well as Butch taking money grabs.....isn't that the point? To maximize revenue and profits from your business?

I could never justify paying that much for The Stones at this point in their career. I saw them 10 years ago and they still rocked, and I'm sure they will still put on a good show. The most I ever paid was $250 for the Salute to the Blues show at Radio City Music Hall in 2003, produced by Scorcese - the show that got made into the "Lightning in a Bottle" film.

I got lucky, ended up with a seat on the field for the Detroit show at the "cheaper" $175 price, all the other field seats except the outside sections are $350. So i'm 3rd row on the field for the Stones! Was either going for one of the cheap field sections-and not optimistic about it-or the cheap seats in the upper deck just to see them once.
