Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting

from www.stevieray.com
Fan voting for the Rock Hall of Fame ended today, and Stevie & DT finished on top with 31% of all fan votes. NIN trailed with 22% which is still a ton. This is the third year fans have been allowed to vote (top five artists count as a single ballot among over 700 others). KISS won last year with about 17%, and Rush won the first year with about 25% (both were inducted). So 31% is a record. Still doesn't mean Stevie & DT will get in this year, but that kind of voting should at least get the official voters' attention.
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble 31.04% (18331547 votes)
Nine Inch Nails 22.20% (13114449 votes)
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts 15.08% (8907060 votes)
Bill Withers 6.49% (3830589 votes)
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band 6.25% (3692961 votes)
Lou Reed 5.28% (3121379 votes)
War 2.67% (1575228 votes)
Green Day 2.59% (1527135 votes)
Sting 1.75% (1034505 votes)
N.W.A 1.29% (761395 votes)
Kraftwerk 1.15% (681999 votes)
The Smiths 1.12% (662229 votes)
The Spinners 1.12% (661758 votes)
The Marvelettes 0.98% (580523 votes)
Chic 0.98% (578506 votes)

I hope the Paul Butterfield Blues Band gets in.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

The #1 fan vote has always been inducted. So SRV most likely will get in. However, the #2 choice not always so lucky. I believe Deep Purple was #2 a few years back, and the inevitible occurred. Quite a respectable spot for Paul Butterfield Blues Band at #5. I thought they would linger at the bottom of the list.
There's a website called "Future Rock Legends" which predicts R&R Hall inductees, and their list was rather different:
The Smiths: 51%
Lou Reed: 47%
Green Day: 45%
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble: 45%
Nine Inch Nails: 43%
Kraftwerk: 42%
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts: 33%
Bill Withers: 31%
War: 27%
The Marvelettes: 26%
N.W.A: 26%
Sting: 23%
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band: 23%
The Spinners: 19%
Chic: 19%
The Smiths gained the highest vote, but since that vote doesn't count it's meaningless. In fact the entire list is meaningless!

To me a HOF should be for the elite only. On that list only SRV works for me.
Amazes me that bands like Green Day have been around long enough to be nominated. I'm old. 😛

I hope the Paul Butterfield Blues Band gets in.
