Robin Trower interview by Joe Bonamassa

I'll listen to the Joe Robin interview tonight. I saw Robin Trower several times in the 1970's and 80's and like Dickey Betts, Trower has an incredible tone. A tone many players would love to have. I'm familiar with Dickey's set up back then but obviously some of Dickey's tone is Dickey's fingers as it is similar when he is not playing his fantastic Goldie Les Paul. Not sure about what Trower does other than a big Marshall set up. I think I remember he uses heavy strings.Â

I subscribed to Joe's podcast and saw this the other day. Will check out!
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

@jszfunk I listened last night. It is informative. Of course Joe talks a lot about his amps, cabinets, pedals etc and Joe knows a lot about Tower's gear set up.Â
Joe said he goes back and forth between Les Pauls and Strats with a song here and there on a Telecaster and told Trower he (Joe Bonamassa) needs to work on not playing too many notes.Â
To my ear, tell me if you disagree, and the video about I posted is an example, Robin Trower with his Strat set up with different pickups and heavy strings and his Marshall set up, has a better tone than Joe Bonamassa with a Les Paul, Strat or Tele.Â
But I'm not ragging on Joe's tone. Joe has a real fine tone too but not what Trower has.Â
