What cause ? I mean wasn't Butch playing live all over the place all the time ?? He did not seem to have an illness .
WTF ?
RIP Butch , thanks for the decades of great music .

No words. ABBsolutely heartbroken.

Oh my. Please say this is not so.

My thoughts and prayers to his family. Thanks for sharing him and thanks to him for sharing his music with the fans of the ABB. Truly Sad day for the famABBly!

by all accounts, it wasn't pretty, and I'll just leave it there...so understand why family would take its time....
I read allusions to this last night as well which has me horrified, especially for his family. I hope all of it is just rumor and chatter that spreads...
Relix has gone with the story.

I don't know what that is in reference to, but it sounds awful.
I wonder if Fretsman can change the topic title to include Butch's name in it just to avoid any confusion?

The band that is our roots... back where it all began...they changed each & every one of our lives in countless ways... eternally Grateful.

🙁 🙁 🙁 what and no no no ...

It's getting more serious than just rumors:
Butch Trucks, one of the Allman Brothers Band's founding drummers, died on Tuesday. He was 69. Page Stallings, Trucks' booking agent, confirmed the veteran musician's death to Rolling Stone, but said a cause of death is currently unknown.

RIP Butch, thank you for all the years of greatness and love for music.

been sifting through things and thought it could be rumor but Rolling Stone, publication that can't afford to be wrong anymore confirms it for me. So sad. He was great. One of a Kind...

It's a matter of waiting for the official announcement....but I can understand the delay as this was apparently a sadly unexpected event. A slow process this morning......all night, really.....but it seems to be true, folks.

just click listen and it should work for you.
Thank you for this.

Being an old drummer i focused a lot on Butch and Jaimoe. What a pair! One of my favorite parts of one of their concerts was when Butch got behind the tympanis and started rocking back and forth from one leg to another. RIP Butch and thanks for the music.

Very sad news. Glad I got to see him play a few times. He will be missed. Thanks for the music Butch!

So sad.

Sad news. Hotlanta, one of Butch's finest performances.

Such a sad day. Prayers with the family. Spinning the Brothers all day long.

🙁 RIP Butch!
So sad right now.

Sad news, especially for those hoping for an Allman Brothers Band reunion of some kind.
For what it is worth, Butch had a wonderfully long and successful career in music. I was lucky enough to see Les Brers a few months ago, and even at his age, he was playing with great skill and joy and strength. A rousing audience response brought the band out for an encore. Not many musicians have this kind of run.
