I thought the odd chatter was bogus rumor at first, but I've seen a few unsettling statements on FB that make me fear the worst.
Johnny Sandlin's page Duck Tape posted it and said a close friend had called them with the new, but know that post has been deleted.

I have read this as well, and that Butch's family wants privacy at this sad time. 🙁 Rest in peace. Thank you for the decades of music Butch Trucks.

My condolences to the family.
There's too many saying it happened for it to be untrue.
The delay is in notifying the family, imo, so they don't learn about it through social media, a horrible way to learn of someone close passing.
There's more rumours about it too, unsettling ones, which if true would further increase the need for privacy.

"According to two of the band's roadies, Butch Trucks passed away last night. The family's in shock and the announcement should happen with in the next couple of hours. One of the two roadies worked with a Jack Weston on an ABB book, and it's Weston who posted about it, adding fuel to the rumour being true. He left Butch's pic up, but took down the writing on it, but by then it was too late, the unconfirmed news was in all the groups I'm in."
Jack Weston has also changed his Facebook Homepage picture to a picture of Butch.

Sadly it is true, look at his facebook page family members are posting to it about his death. 🙁

I'm not a friend direct either, but it is still showing me his feed....cousins and such chiming in......been working various sources all night.....by all accounts, it wasn't pretty, and I'll just leave it there...so understand why family would take its time....Macon radio station playing all ABB and mentioned they will wait for official announcement as well as per request of The Big House.......that is where we are.....hope it is a hoax but more and more going the other way....

Absolutely heartbroken.
One of my all time favorite drummer. His playing was so strong and so tasteful. Power and grace. I also loved reading his interviews and blog posts. Agree with him or not, what a character!
Condolences to Butch's family and fiends. He will be missed by many.

After much debate, but confirmation from William Perkins I am sadden to hear of the passing of one of the worlds greatest drummers and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band Butch Trucks ! God be with the entire Trucks family and Brotherhood!
