New Duane Betts Tune & Album Annoucement

Pretty good song - reminds me of 70's era Great Southern. Really good guitar work by Duane & Johnny.

Here is a link to a new Relix Interview on the forthcoming album... https://relix.com/news/detail/duane-betts-announces-debut-solo-lp-wild-precious-life-shares-first-single-waiting-on-a-song/

Pretty cool about Derek's involvement..

That was pretty good. Had that Blue Sky tug for me, the way that song used to make me feel. Felt good. Boy, he's sure a handsome devil, say what? Looks so much like his old man, cept I never thought of old Dickey as any kind of a handsome devil before, ha ha. Those guys were all mean and scary.

I will have to check this out. I don't have anything by him. I've seen him a couple of times with Dickey about 20 years ago and it seemed like he was just learning how to play. I imagine he has gotten much better since then. Too bad he doesn't play with Devon anymore.
Boy in that picture from the article, damn he sure looks like his dad!

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Skull and Roses festival is free streaming. Stayed up past 2 a.m. for Phil and Friends with Duane last night. Watched Oteil on Thursday and Duane did his new tune from the album. I think Phil's set is 8 p.n. EST tonight. Need to go cycle to wake up. I'll try to get the link. Some really good bands happening before during daytime sets the last few days.

Live Now
Billy Juso and Big Chief Pardo
5pm est Moonalice
6:15 Melvin Seals and JGB
8:00 pm est Phil andFriends

Here's a live version he just did with Oteil & Friends --- really cool of Oteil to support Duane like this

Congratulations if you managed to get a copy of the Betts CD. Amazon.ca
has cancelled my order. Neither .com or Import CDs have it in stock. Looks
like somebody has screwed up big-time. Ridiculous.

Saw Duane and Palmetto Motel tonight in Harrisburg; awesome frigging show. Catch these guys if they come near you, they're fun. The version of the Rolling Stones song Sweet Virginia tonight was incredible.

@jack_frost I caught their show just a couple of weeks ago and ditto what you said Jack!!!
Duane Betts is way, way better than the young man that would play a solo on Dreams in the 1990's. He is a very fine guitarist now.
And Johnny is a great guitarist too and one of the better SLIDE guitarist out there now.
I liked they drummer too. A black guy but I couldn't understand the name when Duane introduced him.

I hope everyone is enjoying the shows. I really like the record especially an instrumental titled Under the Bali Moon. I hope they add it into the setlist soon as i think they could really work it out live.

Back Porch Session: Duane Betts
The Florida-born guitarist and songwriter plays four tracks from his debut album, Wild & Precious Life, among them “Stare at the Sun,” which was influenced by the fearless guitar playing of his father, Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers. Guitarist Johnny Stachela accompanies Betts

They actually debuted that song at the show I saw in Harrisburg, PA this past Friday. It was great!

@jack_frost Very well done piece on Duane Betts' debut at the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, TN!!
Johnny Stachela is prominently featured too. Apparently Johnny and Duane are extremely tight and partners.

Caught the show in Chicago ( Evanston ) a couple weeks ago 8/25. Place was tiny but packed and the band really seemed to respond to the love.
I agree the new black drummer is tight --- he also played for the opener Cordavas which I thought was OK. Pedro on bass is solid but bummed they lost BOJ
Duane waited after the show at the merch stand to sign autographs. Stood by himself chilling patiently.
This kid is NOT resting on his dad's laurels --- they guy is putting in the work! Much respect
Can't wait until the rolls back thru town with Allman Betts
I echo the others here --- go see them.
