My 31 favorite Rock Albums Of The 70s

Well, if anyone watches Sea of Tranquility on youtube, and I do recommend that you subscribe to the page if you haven't, they just finished a monthly countdown today, and Pete Pardo, who moderates the page, mentioned his favorite 70s Rock & Pop albums. He'd already done countdowns talking about Southern Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock & Heavy Metal, etc., so this focused on albums that didn't really fall into those categories. I followed along and included my own list of favorites as well. Since Southern Rock wasn't included, there's no Allman Brothers albums in this particular list, but they certainly had great music at that time. There's certainly plenty of albums I didn't mention, but there's only 31 days in this month, and we tried to included just one album per artist, although I did include 2 albums from one artist in my list. I did include a few that also fit into the Folk, R&B, and Blues genres as well, but they still fit in with the rest. Here's my 31 favorites that I listed, which are not ranked by the way. These are all great to me.:
#31: Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Night Moves
#30: Jackson Browne - Running On Empty
#29: CCR - Cosmo's Factory
#28: America - America
#27: Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
#26: Santana - Abraxas
#25: James Taylor - Sweet Baby James
#24: Muddy Waters - Hard Again
#23: Dire Straits - Communique
#22: The Doobie Brothers - Toulouse Street
#21: Elton John - Madman Across The Water
#20: Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells A Story
#19: Jim Croce - You Don't Mess Around With Jim
#18: Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard
#17: Bob Marley & The Wailers - Exodus
#16: Eagles - Eagles
#15: Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill
#14: Neil Young - After The Gold Rush
#13: Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On The Edge Of Town
#12: Billy Joel - Turnstiles
#11: Johnny Winter - Still Alive & Well
#10: CSNY - Deja Vu
#09: The Police - Outlandos D'Amour
#08: Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman
#07: The Cars - The Cars
#06: JJ Cale - Naturally
#05: The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St.
#04: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
#03: John Lennon - Imagine
#02: Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
#01: Derek & The Dominoes - Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs

Captain Beyond - Captain Beyond (may have been included in the hard rock list)
Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky

Wow, I could come up with a ton. But one off the top of my head (and I wasn't even a huge fan of theirs) is Boston's self-titled debut.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Just saw a mention of Wishbone Ash’s Live Dates - any list would be upgraded w/that one
Where Were You Tomorrow, from Pilgrimage - along w/the Savoy Brown Boogie
how many weekend mornings (& afternoons) have those 2 tunes kick-started & energized - moving around/doing chores/making for a good mood etc
they’re the perfect-segue 1-2 punch to music what Spahn & Sain, Koufax & Drysdale were to bball, or what ham & eggs are to breakfast -
fine list, all the greats are there

@stephen Yes when I was a kid watching baseball on Saturdays brought to you by Fallstaff beer, the Milwaukee Braves were said by Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese to pitch Spahn and Sain then they would pray for rain!!
I guess the funnest baseball quotes are from Manager Casey Stengle who said after his first year as manager of the New York Metropolitans who lost over 100 games..."My pitching was so bad this year I would still be in the cellar if I had Babe Ruth on my team" and " I discovered three ways to loose this year I didn't even know existed"!
One album I really liked in the 70's was "A Nod Is As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse" by the Faces.
Another is Texas Cannonball by Freddie King.

Absolutely - both those - of course there are Many from that era - wonder how that Live Dates gig was that was mentioned - another of the many I really like, that I was a late comer to, is Leon Live - all 6 sides, great - better late than never for that one!🎶🎼😁

I was at the Wishbone Ash Live Dates 50th Anniversary gig at a small local theatre (in Hunstanton UK) on Tuesday night ... it was superb ... some of the keys may have been changed vocally as Andy Powell (at 73) can no longer quite hit some of the higher notes, but it was done in such a way that you hardly noticed ... and the guitar playing was still excellent ... the current twin guitar foil for Andy is Mark Abrahams and for me he is the best since Ted Turner of the original line up. If you get a chance to see them when they come over to the States later in the year, GO ... the current version of "Phoenix" is worth the entry price alone!!!
