No never heard of that. Chuck Leavell did the forward. Should be interesting.

I bought the Allman Joys album when it came out in 1973 after the ABB became so big. I think the liner notes said only a single was released when the sessions were done.

The Hourglass albums were rereleased and the session Duane and Gregg did with 31st of February featuring Butch Trucks on drums came out in 1973 and Capricorn even got into the act with Beginnings. A two disc set of the first album and Idlewild South.

As we know the first two albums didn't sell well. 30,000 copies and Idlewild South about 60,000 but the Beginnings rerelease sold over 500,000 copies in 1973 earning a Gold record.

Man when a band has an album to sell 7 million copies, everything that was ever recorded as key members struggled to make it suddenly comes out to big fanfare.

In 1973 Gregg was irritated by all the old stuff suddenly being released telling Circus magazine it was horrible stuff and his brother felt the same way.

I've seen a few posts about the book on facebook and Istagram - Paul Hornsby and Kirk West were promoting it. I guess everyone has to get their book in, it's bound to have a few new stories. Seems like there are 5 or 6 new ABB books floating around.

My good friend and ABB fanatic sent me a copy a few weeks ago. I honestly didn't have high expectations. However I was pleasantly surprised on how entertaining it was. Bill sounds like he was a pretty good drummer and also level headed. He made Duane and Gregg sound like really good people. Nothing earth shattering about the ABB but some good stories and easy to read. I would recommend it.
