Marty Stuart - Altitude

Well, just got a chance to listen to this album today and it's awesome!! Marty & his band The Superlatives are great musicians!! Not a bad track on this one!! A great mix of sounds as well. Some songs leaned towards the older country sound, and others had kind of a 60s Folk Rock sound to them. I thought of The Byrds when listening to some of them. If you haven't, please give this a listen immediately!!!

Some people on this board have spoken highly of him and I would like to catch him if he ever comes to town. I don't have any of his albums. I imagine I should give some a listen.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

@lee Probably foremost, Marty and the Superlatives pay divine homage to honest to God, sho-nuff, REAL Country and Western music from the golden era of the genre. This is no "pop country" or "hat singer" band (although, "Cousin Kenny" does occasionally sport some outrageously exaggerated headwear!). Think of artists like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merle Travis and other original heavyweights. But they go far beyond that - you'll hear elements of Surf and even Psychedelia thrown in. As I have preached elsewhere - all of the players are first-rate. You may have preference for other styles, but I believe that if you go to see them that you'll agree that there are no finer players anywhere! By all means, see 'em whenever ya can!

I never gave Marty Stuart a listen, figuring him to be another country pop star with his rhinestone jacket and poofy hairdo. That all changed when I had the good fortune to catch Mcguinn & Hillman doing the 50th anny of Sweetheart Of The Rodeo album at a little theater in Akron, Ohio. Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives were the band in that show and tour. I was especially impressed with the cat in the aviator shades and electric blue cowboy hat, Kenny Vaughan, tearing up and down the fretbord all night. Soon after I bought the Way Out West album and have been a big fan since.
