I am not up on many recent bands, but I do see headlines etc, so I have heard of the band Goose. I know they have been ascending the scale of jambands. I don't know every jamband. I've seen Phish; I saw moe open for the ABB but couldn't tell you the names of any of their songs. I enjoy the genre but don't actively pursue it.

Imagine my surprise when I was told a few hours ago that some of the guys in this band are former students from the school where I teach!!! I had the keyboardist/rhythm player in class (great guy.)!! I looked up this video on Youtube - it's a good set. They are accomplished musicians. They have some Phishiness but to me are more melodic, less "experimental," and the vocalist makes me think of Bob Welch from mid-era Fleetwood Mac. Good stuff.

They are very good, thanks for posting. I first heard about them from someone telling me to check out the drummer. Cool that you knew them when...

Another band in a similar vein worth checking out is The Jauntee. Three of them are from Berklee. The guitar player is very good.

Very cool about your former students! I'll have to investigate buying a release of theirs.

A former poster at the Blue Site, Cowboy Neil, was similarly a teacher who had a noteworthy student, guitarist Ryan McGarvey. McGarvey won a nationwide competition the be able to perform at Crossroads 2010 (on the outer stage). Made an effort to catch some of those performances that day, Sonny Landreth, Bonamassa and Honeyboy Edwards. There were two large placards on stage that listed the performers and their appearance times. After everyone was done, I approached the stage manager and asked what would happen to those. She said probably they'd just be discarded. So I asked for one and then she also decided to keep the other one. Pretty nice keepsake from that day.

Neil was a chemistry teacher who would often play live ABB shows during the student's lab times.

Sorry to derail the thread.

Does the group have any studio or live releases? Checked Amazon and only see ones from Goose Creek Symphony which I'm sure are not by your students.
