Happy Birthday, Mike Bloomfield!!

Today would be Mike Bloomfield's 82nd birthday. I can only imagine what he might be playing today. I just love his work, he's right up there with Duane, in my opinion. Some of the stuff he put out later in life was kinda choppy, he didn't care about record labels, and put out some mediocre material. But what I can recommend is The Paul Butterfield Blues Band (1st and 2nd albums), The Electric Flag's Long Time Comin' and Super Session with Al Kooper. Michael at his finest!!

Bob Dylan said Mike Bloomfield was the best guitarist he'd ever worked with. That covers a whole lotta ground! Those Super Sessions albums are great, too!

Right, Rusty! Geez, how could I forget his work with Dylan?! Highway 61 Revisited!!!!

Mike was a genius beyond compare. Such an underrated guitarist. Worth seeking out is his album If You Love These Blues, Play 'Em As You Please; an amazing effort.

I just came across this album called THE LIVE ADVENTURES OF MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD AND AL KOOPER. There’s a couple covers I know, otherwise never heard these songs in my life. Mike Bloomfield is out of his world on this. Perfect.
His solos are killer. Tone is unreal. Even gets fat and overdriven sometimes. Great backing fills during the organ and vocals. Maybe best Bloomfield I’ve ever heard. At the original Fillmore West.
Worth checking out.
