Happy Birthday Jaimoe!!!! 🎂

Johnny Lee Johnson is 81 today. Now the longest lived founding member of the Allman Brothers Band and the first musician to hear "You're in" from founder and leader Duane Allman.
Jaimoe was introduced to Duane by Phil Walden who managed Otis Redding who was recently killed in a plane crash. Jaimoe was the drummer in Otis's road band.
Butch Trucks said when they recorded Standback for Eat A Peach, Butch felt Jaimoe's style fit the song so well Butch insisted Jaimoe be the time keeper this time.

Happy birthday to Jaimoe! Keep the beat alive!

I love the fact that when I met Jaimoe at a Les Brers show in Lancaster, PA in October 2016 and got he and Butch to sign the back cover of my vinyl copy of the first Allman Brothers Band album that he signed it Johnnie Johnson X

@jack_frost He signed a couple of my old vinyl ABB albums years ago. I think he signed mine Jaimoe. It was about 1993. The first album and Idlewild South. I have mine in my storage room now. Can listen on streaming.
Jaimoe enjoyed hearing about me seeing the original band at High Point University in 1971:and they had horn players on some songs. They were friends of Jaimoe. It was a high energy show. They really stepped on the gas.
