I saw one of the Mule's Pink Floyd shows last time and it was amazing how close Warren was to David Gilmore's tone. Didn't copy the solos note for note which is the way I like it. Gilmore didn't live either.

Here is David Gilmore (solo only) so you can see how close Warren Haynes was to Gilmore. Now I'm not saying Warren Haynes is as good as David Gilmore but he is darn close in my book.

Anyone have luck using FEARLESS as a presale code? I tried it for the 5/04 & 8/04 shows - no luck. Says it’s invalid. Tried all caps, all lowercase and with just a capital F. Maybe I’m just an idiot.

Wow I wish they were coming to Chicago. The last time Mule was supposed to play here they cancelled. I think Warren hurt his arm or something. I don't think they've played here in a handful of years.

Jason Bonham is awesome. About four years ago I saw him open for Peter Frampton and it blew me away. Every song they played was a Zep song and the singer sounds so much like Robert Plant. I actually liked them more than Frampton.

They are.  Hollywood Casino Theater in Tinley Park - same place they did Dark Side last time.

Here is the e-mail I got from the Mule

We’re thrilled to announce the Dark Side of the Mule Summer Tour 🌒

Produced by Live Nation, featuring very special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. JBLZE will kick off the night, following by a Gov’t Mule set which will morph into Dark Side of the Mule!

PRESALE TICKETS will be available at http://mule.net/tour on Wednesday, 3/8 at 10am local time [password: FEARLESS].
GENERAL ON SALE is Friday, March 10th at 10am local time at mule.net.

I believe the presale code is only valid for the shows at mule.net/ tour link and they do not go on sale until 10am tomorrow. My guess is the presale password will only work for the shows that show a presale note at that link so may only work for the Chicago August show you want tickets for. Looks like it will not work for the 5/04 show.

Well that isn't Chicago but close. It's weird, when I looked at Mule.net, the summer tour wasn't up yet. Only the spring tour. I overlooked the picture that Bill posted.

And for that Tinley Park show at least, you can get tix without a password. Just choose the sections that don't require it. Actually the closer seats are available. Fees stink but of course that's always the case.

OK got my tickets but paid way more than I have ever paid for Mule tickets.

If I wanted first 10 row seats I had to buy platinum which were $$$ but got 5th row center so I am happy as they are my favorite band still touring and I don't go to to many concerts these days so don't mind splurging a bit.

For Boston most of the tix for section 2 center in front of the stage were either already sold or they are holding them back for the general sale Friday so not a lot to choose from if you wanted primo seats close to the stage.

Mule used to be one of the few bands I would look forward to seeing that did not charge big money for tix. I hope this is just a one off as I would be very disappointed if the primo  seats to their concerts were now going to be big $$$ moving forward like most of the other popular bands playing decent sized venues.

Oh well, good thing I am getting  decent tax refund this year so I can treat me and the wife to a night out as I have converted her into a casual Mule fan.

I put in for three at Tinley Park, 8th row on the aisle. $328.50 for three $109 tickets. At checkout it was $419. Never paid that much to see Mule either. Over $90 for fees. Didn't buy them.

just checked the NH show ticket prices and looks like there were very limited Mule fan club presale tix available for us fans. I will give the band credit that the prices were in line with what I expect for typical Mule tix (<$100) but the choices are limited and the close to the stage tix seemed to be all $$$ platinum tix

Yeah I have never paid more than $80 for great seats to see the 20+ Mule shows I have attended But $109 is not bad for 8th row compared to what I paid for Boston. The Mule fan club tix for the NH show were $89.50 for 14th row so not bad.

Unfortunately the primo tix for Boston were much more expensive. I guess they price them depending on what the market would bear for a particular venue.

I have seen the Mule over 20 times in two countries and five different et states. Going to be honest and admit I hate almost everything about this tour.  I hate the fact they are forced to do Dark Side…. . to headline sheds, and I hate the Live Nation venues they are performing at.  I am not a big fan of the opening act although it might be interesting to see Warren jam with Jason.

The thing is I understand why they are doing this.  The band has hit a plateau in popularity and they want to expand their audience.  Will I go to one of the shows?  Maybe the South Bay date with Duane Betts or god forbid, the Holmdel gig as I hate that venue and it is a schlep.  Kind of wish they would add a South Florida date as the Echoland festival was cancelled.

Yeah....I am not a big fan of this thing either. More so the artist being covered. Not even close to being a PF fan. Never got them and never will. I guess there is an appeal/draw for them to do this. They are playing a large outdoor amphtheater near me. It will be interesting to see what tix sales are like. I would rather see them come out and do a Zep thing with Jason and Warren on guitar an vocals. That I would pay to see. But Floyd, ugh. I am probably in minority. I guess it works well , getting a night of classic rock classics.

As far as them " hitting a plateau in popularity". I think the fanbase has been what it has been probably for the last 20 yrs or more. Not sure they are worried about that too much. Mule will never be a huge arena/outdoor shed headliner. Maybe with another act. I prefer them to be to see them in a smaller hall/theater/scaled down outside venue.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

@jszfunk I know Gov't Mule did a Jimi Hendrix themed tour AND a Pink Floyd themed tour. Warren and Allen Woody were big fans of Pink Floyd. Remember Allen Woody put together Blue Floyd as a side band.

But are you guys saying this tour coming up is NOT Gov't Mule's idea?? That they were hired to do a PF tour that wasn't part of their plans? And Gov't Mule agreed to do it so they could headline sheds?

As to PF vs LZ. It's interesting both Jimmy Page and David Gilmore are worth $180 million dollars. Not sure which band was the most popular. But both LZ and PF are among the most popular in rock history.

Roger Waters, the bass player, wrote Dark Side of the Moon but continually clashed with Gilmore and quit in the 1980's. The writer seems to make the most. Waters is worth $320 million.

Waters is re-recording Dark Side of the Moon. He recently slammed David Gilmore and the other members for not having an original idea among them. But Waters admitted David Gilmore's guitar solos on PF albums are among the greatest rock guitar solos in the history of the genre.

I'd love to see Gov't Mule became a huge draw but it looks as if they likely, as you said, will never be as big as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Metallica, Rolling Stones or as big as the Allman Brothers Band was in the 1970's.

Some of my favorite bands can't headline sheds and Coliseums and earn Platinum records. It doesn't make any difference to me how big a band is. Only that I like them. I would like to see it for Warren and Matt but they already are a band I always see when they are in my area.

Ya, not crazy about this show, considering I've seen them do this twice already. The original on mulaween and another time. Don't get me wrong I love the shows but after last summers amazing show in Northampton was looking forward to a straightout mule show. Will most likely go to the show in Boston. I am now limited to attending outdoor shows only beacuse of tinnitus. Even with custom made hearing protection Mule is just to loud to see indoors. Take care of your hearing. I would'nt wish this on my worst enemy.

Also saw them in Northampton last year. Amazing show at a fantastic outdoor venue in the woods.  Saw 3  Mass Mule shows last summer but Northampton was the best.

Saw them do the Dark Side show at the Mansfield, Ma. shed a few years back. Great show and fantastic recreation of that album.

They do usually  play Mule songs before and after Dark Side so IMHO you get the best of both worlds for a fan of both bands.

Have 5th row center for the Boston show so really looking forward to this concert.

Probably going to this show seeing that it’s only 10 minutes from my home, but honestly thought this would be an affordable night for my family of 4. Last summer, we drove 4 hours to Osh Kosh,WI to see Mule & Trombone Shorty. Tickets were $25 each and the service charge was about $2.50. Great outdoor venue on the Fox River and our hotel was right across the street.
I didn’t think these tickets would be that cheap, but when I was seeing $109 without TM fees, I decided to wait it out. That show will not come close to selling out. The venue has given away or had 2 for 1 deals on poor selling shows over the years, so I’m going to bank on that. If not, I’ll sit on the lawn for $25. I do think it will be a good show, but not at the prices they are asking right now.

Yeah very disappointing about the prices. I wonder if it may be related to the production required to put on the Dark show? When I saw it a few years ago they had an extended band to fill in the sound to replicate the music which cost $$$.

In any case I am with you in that I never paid so much for a Mule ticket. Even for the best seats they were always under $100 for past concerts. I went to 3 shows in the Boston area last summer but if the higher ticket prices for the good seats are now the norm I will not be able to afford to go to multiple shows moving forward.

It would be sad for me if Warren went he way of Springsteen and said screw the fans and he was going to get what the market will bear.

The difference I think is Springsteen can command those prices due to his huge fan base while Mule is a cult band IMHO and does not have that kind of fan base so you may be right they will have trouble selling tickets if they charge too much for the "cheap" seats.

Edit: most of the prime seats in the front sections that go for over $100 for the Boston show are sold out. There are plenty of $99 second tier and $50 nosebleeds available for fans who just want to get in and see the show. To your point I would not be surprised if they do a 2 for 1 on the nosebleeds as it gets closer to show date.

@bill_graham Maybe this is why the Mule is involved with Dark Side of the Moon. It gets them into the top 10 bands of all time based on album sales.

I seem to recall you live in the Chicago area. The ticket prices for Tinley did indeed drop. This says $25 but I actually saw some in the pavilion for $20.

I'll be going to the Wolf Trap show. I don't think I've seen Mule since 2019. That is a long, long time between shows. I'm still holding Mule Years Eve tickets. I've listened to several shows from the tour on Nugs. I'm very happy with the new songs and wish they were playing all Mule, but, as it stands, I'll take what I can get. Ticket prices and fees are obscene these days. Most of the shows I attend are through Not for Profits like, Wolf Trap, Kennedy Center, and Strathmore. They get great talent and sell the tickets themselves with affordable fees. Most big shows I wait until the day of and buy at the box office without fees.
