FRAMPTON documentary!!!
This is so much better put together than the jumpy trailer for the Gregg film.
Stoked to see it, and glad Peter is still here to enjoy it !
I'm not a big Peter Frampton fan but respect him. I saw Humble Pie once and Frampton solo once.
He is not Gregg Allman to me and to us here on this site.
But is Peter Frampton a bigger star in the music world than Gregg Allman?
Album sales wise Frampton apparently is bigger.
Frampton Comes Alive has sold over 8 million copies. Gregg never had a solo album to sell over 1 million according to available numbers. Laid Back sold about 900,000 copies. Close to one million.
Of course Gregg sings and plays on Brothers and Sisters which sold over 7 million copies. Ramblin' Man probably accounts for half of the sales of Brothers and Sisters.
Hats off to Peter Frampton but personally I'm a much bigger Gregg Allman fan.
Lots of other music is posted on this site and many people are Frampton fans. It figures you would have to quote some stupid thing about sales or the money you think they made or blah blah blah
If you like the music fine, if you don't, fine, but spare me the rest of it it's # ridiculous
@waitinforrain I do like the music. I, like 8 million other people, bought "Frampton Comes Alive" and still have my original vinyl copy.
I was just musing as to whether Peter Frampton is a bigger star in the music world than Gregg Allman since you pointed out the preview for Frampton 's documentary is better produced than Gregg's.
I'm not sure if Peter Frampton has more fans today than Gregg but record sales wise Gregg never had a solo album to sell over 1 million copies and Peter had one to sell 8 million copies so he well may be a bigger star in the music world than Gregg.
I also have a Humble Pie album.
I became a big ABB fan in 1970 but never became that interested in Peter Frampton other than recognizing Peter is a fine singer and guitarist and had one of the biggest selling albums in the 1970's.
I apologize if you thought I was being negative about Peter. I wasn't but apparently it came across that way. Sorry.
Who pissed in your corn flakes this morning? I doubt it was Robert. It does look like it will be a good movie. I was big fan of Humble Pie and never knew Frampton was in the band until he became famous for his solo work. By the time I got to see them Live he was not a member. I saw Frampton's solo show twice and it was very good. He played with the ABB at the Beacon once. I'm thinking it was 3/13/06 or some anniversary of the Filmore show where they played LAFE in it's entirety. I may be wrong about that. I remember being disapointed in the song they chose to have him play on. I thought Walk on Gilded Splinters would be a good choice since Humble Pie played it also. I don't remember now what song it was.Posted by: @waitinforrainLots of other music is posted on this site and many people are Frampton fans. Count me as one who appreciates RD's contributions to this site.

I'm just about 1000% uninterested in who sold how many records or whatever. I was very clear: I could care less if you like or don't like the music, if you want to talk about music, great
but you post a lot of drivel here about sales, how much you think people make (all from crap websites) and la di da, so to me you're a broken record who's good at cut n paste.
Out of sheer boredom, I watched a documentary about Billy Idol the other night. Billy Idol. Seems like EVERYBODY gets a doc' these days! 😉
I've always had a lot of love for Peter Frampton. Anybody who sells than many copies of a record is entitled to some sort of parade! 😉
I saw Frampton at the Fillmore East befo0re he hit big with his live album. He opened for Clapton. I liked his show but to
me Clapton blew him off the stage. Seems like a good guy but not at the level of ABB or Clapton musically for my taste.
@kcjimmy Utilizing the Wayback Machine I see that Frampton sat in with the ABB at the Beacon on two occasions.
March 15, 2006: "Frampton was a surprise guest during the Allman Brothers' legendary run, jamming alongside blues greats like Hubert Sumlin and Pinetop Perkins." (no particular song mentioned in this search result).
April 6, 2007: "Frampton opened the second set, fronting the band on guitar for "Key to the Highway" and "Born Under a Bad Sign." He returned later for an encore of "Southbound."
Seems like I was present for one of those, but my own memory gets slippier every day!
Also, count me as one of those who enjoys Robert's posts - non sequiturs and all! 😉
@rusty OK so I checked the live show data base here and it says Frampton sat in on 3/11/06 for Born under a Bad Sign and the encore Southbound. This must be the show. I was thinking of because they played. I Walk on Gilded Splinters earlier in the night and I thought shouldn't he have played on that one? It was the next night that was the 35th anniversary of the Fillmore East recording and they recreated the album.
It says he played on Key to the Highway and again the encore Southbound. on 4/06/07 at the Beacon. There are some decent pictures of Frampton with the band on that night.
He lost me with that whole I'm in You album but Frampton really is a great guitarist. Hey the ABB had Brothers of The Road. So they can't all be masterpieces.
Robert Dee, in the spirit of peach I apologize.
I'll keep my eye rolling to myself but, I really do enjoy your stories more than the other stuff.
However a tradition is carried on by the people that practice it, and this makes you a Peach tradition bearer, and it's not for me to intervene.
Carry on, sir!
@waitinforrain Thank you so much. Families have little disputes and misunderstandings.
I have my old turn table hooked up again and played my copy of " Frampton Comes Alive " for the first time in years and it is a great live album. And Peter is a fine electric guitar player and singer.
A bit of a tangent: If you catch Peter on his current tour, you'll notice that former Les Brers guitarist Pat Bergeson is a member of the band. He is also featured on harmonica a few times on the show. Busy feller. Between Peter, Tommy Emmanuel, Wigg Walker, several guitar camps a year, and being a featured artist at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society, It's a wonder that he has time for an extensive jazz schedule as well.
We now return you to your regular programming
Pat is a great guitarist
Whenever I can stop listening to the Allmans for a minute (Saturday Jam day!) I'll check out Pat. Hadn't heard of him. And I'm pretty well versed, always like discovering new old favorites.
RobertD, glad you enjoyed a little Frampton. I don't like all his stuff, but he's a great player and still with us which is something. I love Humble Pie with him.
