For The Beatles Fans Only

This is a marvelous 9:50 summary of their early recording days as told by George Martin. Includes live in concert footage of the band performing Please Please Me and Twist And Shout.

Always nice to start the week with a dose of the Fab Four. BTW, the two live performances are from the Washington, DC "theater in the round" show they did right after their the first Ed Sullivan show appearance. Crazy that Ringo was actually involved in rotating the drum riser during the show.

their 1st-ever USA gig was in Wash DC, then they went to NY for the Sullivan show -- IIRC -- could be wrong

The Sullivan show was first on 2-9-64. DC concert was two nights later.

However, DC did have a significant first regarding the Beatles. It was a local radio station WWDC that first played a then unreleased copy of I Want to Hold Your Hand in December, 1963. Shortly thereafter the snowball ran down the hill.
