RIP EVH . Would have been 67 a few days ago.

Could this be one of the most important pieces in rock guitar history? I think so. I know we all have it heard it a million times, but I never get tired of it.

Yes it is a milestone, stand out moment in rock guitar history!! No question. It was a shift in how rock guitar could be played. Moving the needle so to speak.

Here is another one that was just a big. Just as transformational

As Ted Templeman, a man who knows more than a little bit about music, said in his recent book, Eddie Van Halen is up there with Art Tatum and Charlie Parker in that he changed how rock guitar is played as did they with Drums and the Saxophone.

And as Warren Haynes wrote in a very eloquent and heartfelt tribute to EVH, "Eddie Van Halen changed Rock and Roll, and Rock and Roll changed the world.  Any questions?"

Like many people, I still remember quite vividly where I was the first time I heard "Eruption."  And like many people it blew my mind.  It was only the tip of the iceberg of what EVH would go on to create.
