Elvin Bishop 1976: Fooled Around And Fell In Love

Might be the best version of this tune I've ever heard. Mickey Thomas lead vocals.

That is a great version of the tune. Thomas is such a good singer but I’m not sure what happened with his luggage on the way to this show. Everybody on stage is dressed up and he looks like he had to roll a mechanic for those coveralls before stage call.
On a sad related note, I recently caught a horrible story on the ID channel about Elvin Bishops daughter being murdered some time back. I didn’t know that happened. Sorry to take the post to the dark side.

Oh yeah............being here in the Bay area I knew about the tragedy regarding Elvin's daughter. Elvin is still GREAT............last time I saw him was at The Fountain Blues Festival in San Jose, 2017. He was better than EVER.........

I haven’t heard him recently but looked up some video and you are correct, he’s rockin. He still has that great tone to boot.

From Wikipedia. Apparently Bishop's daughter wasn't real skilled in the art of choosing men:
"Bishop's daughter Selina and ex-wife Jennifer Villarin were murdered in August 2000.[13] The culprits were later identified as Selina's then-boyfriend Glenn Taylor Helzer, Helzer's brother Justin Helzer, and accomplice Dawn Godman. The murders reportedly occurred as part of a scheme to extort money from an elderly couple from Concord, California.[14][15] Both killers were sentenced to death for the murders; Justin Helzer, blind and partially paralyzed from an attempt on his own life while incarcerated, committed suicide in San Quentin prison."

I’d like to see that doc again. The boyfriends gang stole money and had Selina putting it in her own bank acct not knowing of the theft but she found it out. I’m going to look into that further. I was just flipping thru and heard Elvin Bishop, so I watched.

Elvin is so cool. Lot of fun to see his shows. I saw him several times in the early days. Did a bunch of different genre of music. Still playing the red Gibson these days.
This was always one of my favorite Elvin songs - "Rock My Soul".

Always loved this song. Mickey is a fantastic singer. Brings back lots of memories from that time.

Still playing the red Gibson these days.
I really like the tone he gets. It’s been the same and is just a great sweet spot between thick and thin.

Yep. I'm up on acoustic guitars much more than electrics, but is that a Gibson es335?

Yea, it looked to be a 335. Expensive but nice.

I dig Mr. Bishop. He's an ol' school talent that interjects some comical wit into his songs. A couple of my favorites are Give Me Some Of That Money and Slow Down.

Ol' Bishop's band has a genuine good time playing. Listen to some Stealing Watermelons, Traveling Shoes, Gone Fishin. Large time jamming!
