That's a great tune by Eddie! "Dear Y'all" is an album that everyone should at least hear. My favorite Eddie tune is probably (this version of) "Cover Me" - backing vocals by the late Bobby Womack. His vocal inflection on the second "stay with me" makes me really feel the anxiety of a man begging the woman that he loves not to leave (1:50 - after the brief guitar solo). I might be the only person to hear it like this - judge for yourself:

Rusty that is also my favorite version of "Cover Me". I listened to it again with "new ears". I replayed 1.47 - 1.55 several times. I agree with you. I had never caught that particular inflection. It made me love the song even more if that's possible. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to Michael "Buffalo" Smith and Gritz Magazine for turning me on to Eddie Hinton several years ago. Hard Luck Guy, the Johnny Sandlin posthumously produced CD gets a strong recommendation from me as well. I certainly echo Lisa's comment, "What a talent."

Where's Eddie.....Lulu. 1970. Written by Eddie Hinton and Donnie Fritz. The Drive By Trucker did a version. It tugs at the heart if you know Eddie's story.
