And they are playing much better than I thought they could. Both Allman and Betts are getting impressive. After Duane Betts played years on a couple of Allman Brothers songs, usually Same Thing and Dreams and many years in Great Southern, I began to think he was always going to be just average. But being in Dawes for a couple of years changed everything. He is close to being a top guitarist now and Devon Allman is at that level too.

I really was hoping they would bring their tour to Oregon this summer, but no such luck. The videos of them playing together recently are really fun to watch and I would love to see these guys jam on some longer Allman Brothers songs like Elizabeth Reed or Les Brers! The all star show at the Fillmore West last year was epic. You're right, both of these guys are playing on a whole new level now- they have acquired mojo powers!

Devon, if you're out there reading this, please come back to the Portland Blues Festival in 2019! And bring Duane! And Samantha Fish! 😛

Gonna catch them live next week. Friday at a festival in Belgium and sunday at an afternoon indoor gig in the Netherlands (if i'll make it on time because i will also be at that festival in Belgium on saturday and will return home sunday morning). Gonna be a busy weekend because i also want to catch a very cool Dutch soul band called The Tibbs on sunday night! 😛 😛 😛

Won't be making a trip to London for this one Colin. And as you say, the concert buddies don't meet up as often as we would like.

Hi Mike … hope all is well in the wild west … not surprised you are not going to London as you are spoilt for choice this year … you have Manchester on your doorstep and Leeds and Sheffield not to far away either … it is good that Devon & Duane are playing so many venues … if only Norwich was still on the main circuit like it used to be back in the 70's …

Hi Colin, I also won't be at this show. I'm going to be overseas on a well deserved holiday.

That's a shame … was looking forward to having a beer with you … hope you have a great holiday!

Looks like just me, Gordon and Martyn at the moment … do you have any recommendations for a boozer near the Islington Assembly Hall ?

Great show last friday at the (Ge)varenwinkel Festival in Belgium. They were headlining and were allowed to play a full show that even included a whoppin' 3 encores.
They played Mahalo, Ten Million Slaves, I"ll Be Around (The Spinners cover), Left My Heart in Memphis,
Blue Sky, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (without Devon Allman), Friend of the Devil, Melissa, Lean on Me
(Bill Withers cover), Purple Rain (Prince Cover), Midnight Lake Michigan, Midnight Rider. Missing a few songs.

Heh heh … those were the days … pre-show party in the Beacon Hotel then an ABB Beacon gig followed by a midnight Lefty Collins gig at BB Kings then finishing the evening off with a "nightcap" in Yogi's … treasured memories for sure

Good choice. They serve food there too so you'll be happy. Good luck in leaping onto a seat. Seriously.

Thanks for the seal of approval Barry … sorry you won't be there mate, you will be missed, but I hope you have a good holiday … haven't been to the Hope & Anchor since the 70's … I think I saw Feelgood there last time I visited …

Last night in London, it was report to the merchandise counter, Darren.

Martyn and his friend Nigel had tickets. They had to report back at 19.50.

Hope you enjoy the show!

By the way, aside from the Allman and Betts boys, who get the pub, Johnny Stachela does a great job on the slide and on Blue Sky (no slide)

one other observation...there's no room in this band for Devon to play a lot of lead, but from what i saw he can definitely play
