I'd been wanting to see Dana for a long time after seeing her on youtube doing a Janis set w/ Gov't Mule on NY Eve maybe four years back. Then of course there was her performance in the all Beatles tunes film, Across The Universe, which was really well done.

She's from New York and just does NOT come to California, at least not that I've ever heard of. In fact she did say that this was their first time in San Francisco and she was real happy that it was sold out. (Place couldn't possibly hold over maybe 250 max).

She did not disappoint..........a very dynamic and soulful performer who obviously really FEELS the music.

Dana has not had an easy life recently. She said at one point during the show she has recently lost three siblings and her Dad. She actually considered canceling this tour. The youtube above is a song she wrote after the death of her brother four years ago. I'm guessing this was the first of the four deaths. To me, it's a great performance.

I have more video which eventually I will post, including Dana singing and strumming an acoustic and doing some country and then some rock 'n' roll.

Thanks for the report. I am a fan of hers for sure. Yeah she wrote some amazing stuff about her love and loss on her blog.
