"I'm sick of denying it"

Brian Johnson has reportedly confirmed that he’ll be singing on a new AC/DC album.

Last year, it was reported that the rock icons were working on a new album that will feature the work of their late rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young on “every track”, according to “a reliable source inside the AC/DC camp”. The rhythm guitarist died in November 2017 after retiring from the band due to early onset dementia.

Johnson meanwhile was forced to quit the band in 2016 after suffering hearing loss and was replaced on the band’s tour by Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose. He was then rumoured to be reuniting with the rock legends for a new record after being spotted with the band’s former drummer Phil Rudd in Vancouver.

Now, American band Terrorizer have confirmed the news after meeting the legendary frontman in an airport.

“We ran into Brian Johnson from AC/DC at the airport today after the flight home,” they wrote on Facebook.

“We asked him about the rumours of him being on the new AC/DC album and he said ‘yes’ and that he is ‘sick of denying it.’ So that was a cool surprise ending to the tour.”

Speaking last year, a source close to the band said: “Turns out, five years prior to the ‘Black Ice’ LP, AC/DC’s 15th studio release, Angus and Malcolm Young lived to together [sic] where they literally wrote hundreds of songs, many were recorded and have been stashed away until now.

“Angus has decided to selected [sic] the best tracks from those recordings that Malcolm played on and is now back in the studio recording and mixing them with fellow band mates Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams and yes, Brian Johnson on vocals.”.

Drummer Phil Rudd was ousted from the group in 2015 following his conviction last year for drug possession and making threats to kill a former employee.

I wish Brian could do more of the Storytelling or unplugged type stuff, I heard that tour he did was awesome?! Why do the exact same thing with AC/DC? Maybe do a Theatre type tour? Hate to see him take risks on permanent hearing damage? Seen both Bon in '78 and Brian in '83, they certainly were a force with Bon Scott ............peace..........joe

I may be a fool but I'll hold out hope that there are some good melodies to be recorded on par with what they did with Bon or the first two Brian Johnson albums (or even as good as Guns for Hire....the last great AC/DC song in my book). Let's hope!

Glad they are working together.

I was surprised that Angus toured with a shell of AC/DC. He didn't even take much abuse for doing it while Gary Rossington is constantly abused for continuing.

Glad Brian is back where he belongs.

Angus did a tour. He didn't run his legacy through the dirt for 2 decades. I get what you're saying (I was surprised as well), but kinda different situations.

And yet after decades of being accused of it, LS still packs the house and people leave happy. Also aside from King, the LS guys died. Angus just fired some. Different situations in a way I guess but Gary didn't disrespect members and continue. More honor there IMO.

You forgot Artimus Pyle. He quit; didn't get fired. I don't think they wanted him to quit though.

I agree with you though. Skynyrd has been bashed on this site for years and years for continuing and I don't think that's fair. I'm too young to have seen the originals but I've seen them many times with some of the guys who have since passed: Hughie, Leon, Billy. They always pack a place and people enjoy them so why not?

If it's true , that's great.

Not sure if all would agree here, but I was kind of curious of what an Axl fronted AC/DC new material would sound like.

I'm sorry I did not see AC/DC live with Axl.

It is a remarkable pairing, in its own way as astonishing and powerful a possibility as when Ronnie James Dio joined Black Sabbath.

The 20-year-old Jim Sheridan would be very disappointed that the 50-year-old Jim Sheridan did not jump at the chance to see Axl Rose with AC/DC.

Well I’ll just wait until I hear something official from Brian Johnson or the AC DC camp. Who is Terrorizer anyway ???
It will be great if Angus is using material him and Malcolm worked on before he passed. Malcolm never seemed to get the attention/credit that Angus got, but he was a force. They together laid down some of best hard-rock ever.
Met Malcolm many moons ago at a coffee stand when ACDC were in town for “those about to rock” or maybe even “back in black” tour. Super nice guy and excited about the ‘new’ line-up.
I really think they should have just cancelled the tour last time rather then go out with Axl. I am not slagging Axl or anything, but it just did not seem right. I know it has to do with money (obviously) and insurance for the tour etc, but its not like Brian was only with the band for an album or two, so easily inter-changeable. He was/is a Major player and part of the band.

Regarding LS: "Different situations in a way I guess but Gary (Rossington) didn't disrespect members and continue".

Well, that's a first. How about Artimus Pyle, Ed King and a couple of players "on the payroll" in the Nineties
that gotten replaced. I really digged the reunited Skynyrd but lost all interest and respect in the current Skynyrd many moons ago.

I'd be curious too. It's possible they did some newly written work for the new album with the Axl/Chris Slade lineup, and also brought back the BIB lineup to finish old tracks that Malcolm had recorded for several years ago, and did that as a tribute to Malcom, but possibly not a full album's worth of old material recorded with Malcolm.

You look at the 2 guitarists they had/have in Hughie Thommason and Rickey Medlocke, and they never played any Outlaws or Blackfoot songs. The Skynyrd of the last 20 years was strictly a cash grab if you ask me.

Just one persons opinion.

Both of them quit. There is also a criminal sex charge that Artimus pleaded guilty to. Sure there are two sides - he plead guilty.
Ed quit.
As for the others over the years, hired players who made more in their time with LS than over their careers. Far from original members that he fired.

Hell Ed was in the band originally for a flash. What did he accomplish musically from when he left the first time until that reunion? He did it for money, made some and left.

Angus just fired guys and toured. Gary had members pass away

As for an album with Axl, it would have taken 20 years.

I like to be optimistic , I love AC/DC, but I am kinda scratching my head the more I think about this.

From my understanding Brian was losing his hearing ,so if he has regained it ,even if that is possible, I question that. Maybe he has had some medical intervention, I don't know.

Angus /The A C/DC camp have always seem to keep things in house and tight lipped, so I doubt Brian has been given the go ahead on putting this out there. Something like that would come more as an official band statement.

A band I always regretted not seeing live. Wished I would've, but not sure I want my only impression to be now.

Brian and Phil along with Angus and Stevie were pictured taking smoke & coffee breaks outside a recording studio last summer, so this isn't the first time we've gotten evidence Brian and Phil are back.

But Cliff Williams being involved would be a surprise. He announced that he was retiring at the end of the last tour. Maybe he's retired from touring but willing to record.

It could be they could put aside differences or get engaged for a studio project as a tribute to Malcolm, but doesn't necessarily mean that Cliff wants to go back on the road or that Brian wants to blow-out his ear-drums at 130 dB every night on an arena tour. We'll see. I'm just glad to hear that they're all in the same room working together.
