Bob Weir Gone At 78
Just got the really sad news that Bob has passed.
Time to play the 4/26/71 GD show with Duane guesting.
"There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute force and ignorance"
Very sad news. It wasn't all that long ago that Donna Godchaux, and Phil Lesh before her, passed away.
I'm very glad I got to see him several times, including solo acoustic opening for Bob Dylan and most recently with Dead & Co in 2021 in Hershey, PA.
Thanks for all the music
RIP Bob you were a huge part of something very special! Thank you...
Thanks Bob!!

I only began to appreciate the Dead late in life. Huge loss for the jam band world...........
RIP Bob. You gave us some wonderful music. Thanks
Someday, everything's gonna be different
When I paint my masterpiece.

Empire State Building saluted Bob last night and again tonight!! 🌹💐🌈🪩🎐🎇
Bill and Mickey only originals left aren't they?
Of course Jai Johnny Johnson only ABB left.

Of course Jai Johnny Johnson only ABB left.
Of the original 5 members of the Grateful Dead, Bill Kreutzmann is the only one left; Mickey Hart joined the band in 1967 after their first self titled album had been recorded, I believe.
Tom Constanten, their sometime keyboard player from 1968 to 1970 or so is still around, but is fighting lung cancer himself right now, sadly.
@jack_frost Thanks Jack. I'm not as familiar with the history of the GD as I am with the ABB.
Duane Betts posted this clip Bob sent him about his father Dickey passing away in 2024.
Unfortunately it won't let me link it. It's on Duane Betts' Facebook page.
R.I.P & thanks for the musical memories of growing up when and where I did & with whom. The music NEVER stopped
Hopefully, nobody left his dead ass there by the side of the road. : }
I had the pleasure of meeting Mickey after a show back in the day. He was a cool, friendly guy. Fun times!
