Very good piece on Berry Oakley. He certainly put some of that swing in the Allman Brothers sound and as the narrator stated, would leave the rhythm section and hook in with the lead instruments.Â
I wasn't aware Berry originally was a lead guitar player. That probably explains why he was such a unique bass player.Â
Dickey said it's often overlooked but Berry was a huge part of how the band sounded and they hit on a sound and style that was their own.Â
