Black Pumas, digging their debut album.

Brittany Howard, her solo album Jamie, a great album.

Revisited White Witch's Capricorn albums, I like them better 50 years later.

Same with Hydra, have been listening to their 3 albums.

And one more Captain Beyond. Everyone likes their first album, but their 2nd (Sufficiently Breathless) and 3rd album (Dawn Explosion) are even better to me.

Wayne, what was White Witch like? I think I have a couple of demos of them but I never did listen to either.

LOVE the Revivalists.

For any country fans, I recommend Tyler Childers who I’ve got into the last few months.

And in the old bit “new to me” category — Stanley Turrentine. Backed into him through Coltrane via Kenny Burrell, only to realize he’s from right here in Pittsburgh!

Also, been liking them for several months so not sure “new” but this band Caamp, surprisingly really really like them. They have a double LP and I play it all the time.

Hey Lee, kind of all over the place, progressive, psychedelic, jazzy in parts, lead singer kind of a screamer at times, and keyboard driven. Their first album produced by Johnny Sandlin is a lot better than their second. I really like that first album.

.

Two of last years best albums. Another good one from 2019 is Mdou Moctar-Ilana

One of the members of Black Pumas is Adrian Quesada and he put out a good album in 2018 called Latin Shades of Texas Soul. He was also a member or Grupo Fantasma and Brownout

I listened to the first one and yeah, it is out there. I find it odd that it was on Capricorn.

No doubt, odd choice for the Capricorn label. I really like it though.

They did have a few duds on the label that just didn't fit. That could be a whole new thread!

Been getting into the Revivalists myself. Any CD's you would recommend. I have the one with mountains in the title and I like it a lot.

Good question, I have been just having my Echo play there songs and I really haven't heard a bad one yet.

Men Amongst Mountains is the one you’re referring to. It’s really good and was a big hit a couple years ago.

I really like their newest one (came out in ‘19) called Take Good Care. These days I probably play it more than Mountains, but I like them both.

Their older albums don’t really do much for me.

Also, at the mercy table I picked up a live vinyl album of theirs — basically Men Amongst Mountains live. That live album is called “Strangers in the Bright Lights,” which is a lyric from their most popular song “Wish I Knew You.” Like I said, bought that live vinyl album at a show, I haven’t seen it anywhere else. But I like it too.
