Walked by a tailgate before the soccer match last night, bunch of dudes behind a Range Rover, getting quite excited about a cooler full of...Bud Light and Michelob Ultra.

Ugh.

Good Afternoon

Went to a sushi place for lunch. Ordered the sashimi without knowing what it was. Turned out to be pretty solid but I prefer sushi.

Gregg and TTB are playing a venue that's five minutes from home this summer. Probably won't attend either one 🙁

TTB is playing in South Bend this summer, but it's the same night the Dead are in Noblesville.

It's further away than Chicago for me, but I can get there in less time, and would pay about 25% of what I usually do in tolls and parking to get there.

Missing TTB isn't to bad as I plan to see them down by Detroit later in the summer. Also have a Dead ticket I'm trying to sell

Rained last night, spent most of it drinking from Karen and Lynn's bottomless cooler...

Joe Marcinek was very good - pretty funky - great version of Shakedown Street.
Tribal Seeds were reggae - pretty good.
Bobby Lee Rodgers - always like BLR...

Back to the Hilton for the low country boil - my favorite meal of the year....

Devon - played great, crowd iinto it
North Mississippi Allstars with Anders Osbouirne - not what I expected - but good
Dumpstafunk - great light show - played a few of their own, and then did Earth Wind & Fire songs - Shining Star was great....then did War songs - Cisco Kid, The World is a Ghetto, Slipping into Darkness....
I left while they started doing Tower of Power songs.

Went back to the Hilton, didn't see Soullive......

No rain today, but it was cool - only 60 and a little breeze - felt very cold for some reason... Smile

A couple of things to soften the disappointment, though. The Blue Angels are here Sat, and I am going to Bristol on Sunday. I'm giving the invocation for Sang...

Hey Alan, I'm jealous of the going to Bristol thing, I'll get there one day.

I assume you made those plans after your Wanee plans fell through? Not sure how you would have pulled both off, doable I suppose, but tough.

Actually, I have permanent tickets for Bristol, both races, and have had for well over 20 years. I have missed very few races there since 1981. So, I was going to skip Bristol and the air show for Wanee, because I missed Wanee last year. The air show dates have been announced for about a year, I guess.

The show made me feel old. Lots of minors in the crowd, still a lot of fun.

I've been there and seen that statue.

Did you see that Peyton Manning was there hanging around with Dale Jr pre-race (both shilling for Nationwide.) Peyton got a lot of coverage on TV, went up to "the booth" for a bit too.

Hey Alan, Bristol used to be a hot ticket, sold out, hard to get into - but the stands did not look filled at all, can you confirm? Maybe it has been like that for several years now.

And don't worry guys, I will go back to lurker mode in this thread shortly 😉

Stands weren't even half full, worst crowd I have ever seen at Bristol, it was pitiful.

Aw hell, Don, hang around a bit. Just don't post anything with even a hint of profundity... 😛

You gotta be funnier than Sang.
