We upgraded the hardware overnight to a beefier server, and it's too early to tell, but so far so good.
Let's see if we can make it through a day on the new site 
!
The search engines have been pounding the system because of all the "new" pages. They are 90% of the traffic and they hit hard.
That traffic should die down after they are done reading everything and that improve performance.
Also, if you're just browsing the site, you'll have a much faster experience if you don't login.

Just curious, there are a lot of Forum sections that are full of cobwebs and rarely ever used - would keeping those back on the blue site allow the site to function better?
@porkchopbob good question. I could easily delete entire sub-Forums from this site.
I'm doing some monitoring to see where the performance hits are and will improve as we go, but that's a good idea to consider.
