After a spendid (and surprising!) weekend in Charlotte, NC, the Allman Brothers Band picks up its 40th Anniversary tour again tomorrow night (Tuesday, Oct. 6) in Columbia, MD. Tour dates and places scheduled to date include:

Joe Motes is hosting a screening of “Please Call Home: The Big House Years” this Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 7:00 PM in The Granada Theater 3524 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX. Tickets are $25. The evening begins with a screening of this beautiful documentary. Kirsten West (Hey, Kirsty!!) , who lived in the Big House for many years and who, with her husband ABB Historian, Archivist and Tour Magician Kirk West (Pa!!), has been a driving force behind establishing the ABB Museum, will be on hand to discuss the film.

The evening also includes music after the screening with Forgotten Space, a Grateful Dead tribute band, followed by an ABB tribute from The Allmost Brothers Band. There will also be some ABB related items (including excellent tickets to the October 16 ABB/Widespread Panic show at Superpages.com Center) auctioned/raffled off.

Since we’re promoting great events, we’d also like to remind you that the Sarasota Blues Fest is Saturday, October 24 this year. Headliners include: Little Feat, Duke Robillard, Larry McCray, and Bruce Katz w. Special Guest Floyd Miles. Tickets are only $20 in advance.
