woodyca, they don't make 'em like Frank anymore! Bizarre, you bet. Spontaneous, oh yea. And one of the best MF guitar players ever. Saw him numerous times from '73 to '88. What a shame he died from something he suspected, and the drs. assured him wasn't there until it was too late.

Good old Friday afternoon bells are ringing everywhere. The only good thing about getting screwed @ work is that you don't feel quilty about not working seven days a week anymore. EddieP 9-23-00 is still my favorite live tape of all. I've got a couple of 1970-71 tapes but I can't get past LATF as being so perfect everything else is a dissapointment. I can't listen to Ludlow Garage, although I do like American University. I listen to 9-23-00 at least once a week. I pulled out a long forgotten CD last night and had a blast. You've got to appreciate a warped sense of humor (I do) but if your are any kind of a Frank Zappa fan get a copy of "Mothers Live at the Fillmore" from 1971. I was lucky enough to see them in the early days and they were truly unique. Now as Mr Zappa says to enjoy this you "have to have a taste for the bizzare". It is really quite amazing. They were totally nuts, but they were also a great band, and you will have a greater appreiciation for mud sharks, groupies and the Vanilla Fudge after listening. Have a great weekend.

Welcome back Rich...Hope your mom didn't find your _________ ! (fill in blank) I'm sure by the Beacon run you'll be just fine! Thinking about what ABB discs never seem to leave my rotation because they are that good. Heres a few that no matter how many shows I get I always seem go back to. I tried to pick one or 2 from each era of the band. I reserve the right to change this list at any time. Your mileage may vary. 9/16/71....... Obvious reasons. 12/31/70..... Huge show, powerful and tight, my favorite early Liz Reed. 6/27/71...... Bill Grahams intro says it all: "We're gonna round it off with the best of them all - The Allman Brothers" Great sound for an early show. 5/22/94......Awesome show from the Warfield run that year. Warren and Woody are killer. Dickey was so much more agressive in those days. 3/20/98.......Two Liz Reeds and Jack Pearson! 'Nuff said. Maybe the best Brothers show I've been to. Oh, Did I mention Jack Pearson? 9/23/00.....JImmy Herring and Derek take us to the stratosphere and back. Best Les Brers ever...really. 8/5/01.....Chuck sits in and is brilliant on Desdemona and Jessica. Dave Schools sits in on Rockin Horse. Great show start to finish! 8/24/02...What is it about Raleigh that brings out the greatness in this band? 2002's best show IMO. absolutely no let downs. Derek's Dark Star tease on Ain't Wastin Time No More gets me every time. Feel free to play along, I'd be interested in hearing other folks favs as well. Have a nice weekend. Eddie

Just wanted to stop in and thank everyone for the healing vibes. Sorry I've been gone so long but I haven't been able to access this site from home for awhile until today (being laid up has it's advantages) and I was busier the last six months than I've ever been. Typing one-handed so it's going a little slower than usual-I am overwhelmed by all the concern, and am eternally grateful for all of my friends here. I'm fine, although with 12 staples in my left (thank God I'm right handed) shoulder I won't be getting on a plane for a while. They WILL be out by March, though. Had almost no pain, amazingly enough. Just getting antsy, but not to go back to work. A word to the wise: when Mom comes to town to play nurse, make sure you hide EVERYTHING. I didn't. Speaking of Moms, I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Charlie. May your mother rest in peace. Thank you all. You've touched me more than you can ever know.

There's never been an opener at an ABB Beacon show. But Susan has guested on several occasions, and I'm sure she will this year. It's also one week of the year where Derek is always in the same place, there can't be too many of those!

Finally Friday... JTuna, sending our prayers & all the best to you & yours. :hammer: Torontonian ABB fans & vicinity. A local Toronto radio station, Q107 is having a special called "Rock & Roll Heaven Part II, The Legends of Classic Rock". They are spotlighting with info, music clips and interviews these Late Great Artists, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and none other than our Brother Duane Allman. This special starts at 3pm today and runs till Sunday. There is a web link for that can't listen and it is: http://www.q107.com/home/index.cfm should be an awesome show and if you can try and give a listen. Have a great day folks, Later, Karen

My wife is gonna be sad that Susan skipped Southern Cal. If my memory serves me right, she has never played Southern Cal other than an opening slot for the Brothers or a benefit where seats are like $150 for nose bleeds. Rumor has it though, that we get Derek in February!!!! Scotty, you ready for a road trip?

I see Susan T.'s tour schedule was updated yesterday with a very large gap corresponding with the Beacon run. Maybe opening those shows or at least making guest appearances? Hope so.

Hi Lee, No expiration date on that offer bro. Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts who posted about mom passing. We had the Filmore East cd playing "Whipping Post" at the visitation for mom. She is now with Duane, Berry, and Allan. We also played her favorite "RED" King Crimson. Peace, Charlie
