Brutal. Simply put - brutal. It took 16 trailers for the equipment, 17 busses for the personnel, and the half full trunk of a Neon for the talent. This is one of those nites that I say ''They don't pay enough!'' Nite, nite, y'all.

Howdy everyone, Depending on how fast your part of the Internet updates, you may be able to see something new here at HTW, built for one of our very own. Click "Tommy Gallagher" from the "Other HTW Sites" dropdown menu and with some luck you'll be among the first to pay a visit to Southpaw's new Internet hang-out! Tommy, it's always fun putting a new site together, it's even more fun with someone as talented and enthusiastic as you are! The best to you! Hit that note, Rowland

(Sorry the ticket appears so huge in the gallery, not my intent. Perhaps Rowland can apply some magic and reduce it down to a reasonable viewing area.)

Posted a picture today of my tix from my first ABB show back in 1975. It was a huge ticket when you added the stub! A few months later I saw Skynyrd and Charlie Daniels at the same venue. The second, autographed ticket, was from a show where I first met Lana. Kirk was also backstage as was Momma Louise.

This was the first year for the 10K Lakes Festival in beautiful northern Minnesota and the people running it pulled off a good one. Held on the grounds of the WE Fest, the sponsors have more than a little experience putting on a festival. This was about 1/4th the size of WE Fest. No lines for anything, great sound system. We talked to the media personel on the way in asked them how the crowds were. The lady smiled and said "They great, they're all hippies" 🙂 I guess the "hippies" are a bit more laid back than the country and western crowd. I think this festival has a good chance of being a long running annual event. The boys put on a great show. It was really strange to seem them play in the full afternoon sun. They had a start time of about 6pm. I still not sure why they weren't the headlining act. Dreams was especially weird to hear in daylight. I had to close my eyes to listen to it. -Rick This should be pretty accurate: 10,000 Lakes Festival Soo Pass Ranch Detroit Lakes, MN Revival Ain't wastin' time no more Statesburo blues Woman across the river Midnight Rider No one to run with Desdemona Good morning little school girl (Danny Louis on piano) Rocking Horse Dreams (Derek solo>Oteil solo>Derek solo) Instrumental Illness> Volunteered Slavery quote (Derek)> drums> bass solo with full band> Instrumental Illness One way out (Encore) Whipping Post

Joe Roy, Gregg and Warren can't touch you, Justin and Christina. Y'all are rock-n-roll. How's your son the guitar picker doing these days?

Speaking of SPDB, his band played our local club last night and flat tore the place up. Not a thing commercial about these guys. Highly talented men, playing from the heart for their own entertainment. Sound familiar? Brent was quite emotional after coming off stage. Whipping Post was the finale. He had to take a few moments to compose himself. He said there are times when he "becomes" Duane, and I believe it. Several people made comments like, "These guys are as good as the Allman Brothers." Now I wouldn't go quite that far, but it is amazingly close. Brent's band will be opening for the Derek Trucks Band here on Oct. 17, the day before the annual Jam for Duane. Although this show hasn't been updated on the DTB site yet, it's on Pollstar and on the DTB email alert. Onsale date is early Aug. More info as it evolves.

Well, now, I don't mean to sound speeeeecial, but tonite I get to work a show the likes of which most of y'all have NEVER seen, or probably ever WILL see! Yes, tonite, in Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, I will be working the Justin Timberlake / Christina Aguilera concert. And, unlike our favorite guys, these folks are sooooooo much more talented that they can actually DANCE while they sing. Yeah, try THAT Gregg and Warren. With or without the salami. Plus, I get PAID to do this! Since the Brothers don't get within 800 miles of me this year, I'm trying to find a bright side. Humor me. Please.

It's good to see you posting again Rick T. Tell SPDB I said hello next time you talk with him. I'd love to see Gregg and Uncle Ray together as well. However after seeing Ray on Wille's 70 birthday celebration, I don't think brother Gregg could hang with him. He sang a Leon Russell song with Leon and Willie and was so good that Leon and Willie were just kind of looking amazed. He was literally "hittin' the note." Incredible. Want to say hi to everybody. I just went to church and want to pass along the good vides. Peace and God bless.

Morning all...: Randy, sorry my friend about Corky. Please, just be with him as he begins to walk this road that goes on forever. Call me. Brent, good to talk to you yesterday, and I hope it turns into something positive musically for us both. It's been too long. I hope Tommy Booth makes it to the Jam for Duane and I hope to see him there. Laney, you got it all wrong my friend. Patience is something we usually don't have enough of, and I am just as impatient as anyone. Hang in there and don't throw out the baby with the bath water would be my strong suggestion. Harold Ray, are you out there at all?? Let someone know you are OK? Good to see Red Dog writing and posting. Hope you are healing inside brother. As for a recent post getting EC, DB and the Allmans together, a good concept for the fans cause these guys are going to be around forever, but, too many assholies in the way for that to be pulled off. It would take a strong person to pull the ego's together. But man, on a related idea, I would pay any amount of money to see one show....Gregg Allman and Ray Charles together with an orchestra. The Brightest Smile in Town would reside here with that one.... Well, caught up sort of speaking. Rick Tomlinson
