Good morning sweet family, Dear Max, thank you so much for trusting and loving us enough to hold us close *k*. You've reminded me of the mantra of the extended family: "There really is an extended family. No heart beats alone. No hand outstretched goes unheld. No tear unwiped. No smile unshared. No love unspoken. There really is an extended family. And you belong." Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

Dear GB: I have not posted in quite some time, probably because I have been involved in a whole load of self destructive behaviour. I am intending on attending my first show of many at Darien Lake sober. I have battled many addictions at the young age of 26, and am now trying to sober up after the realization of what I have done to myself. Perhaps the hardest thing next to coming clean to my girl and family, is coming clean to the people that I consider a second family....you people. Sorry to cast a cloud in to what I have always considered a beautiful sunny day and thank you for listening. Max Misener Welland Ontario

So how young is too young? We have a little Angel almost a year and a half but when Stesboro, DWYNM, Trouble No More, Done Somebody Wrong, Soulshine and most other ABB tunes come on she stops everything and starts to dance. If she gets upset Play one of those songs and it goes away instantly. I put a video in and she went nuts cause usually the music playing on the stereo don't match the muted TV! We considered The Alltel Family area but keep thinking "Are We Crazy?" It is amazing how she loves that music though.

I've taken my 10-year old daughter Angelica and 7-year old son Ronnie to see the Derek Trucks Band at the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park, Susan Tedeschi at the Midtown Music Festival, and recently the Yonrico Scott Band at Cafe 290, all here in Atlanta. They got autographs from Susan, and Yonrico made a special point of thanking them for listening to their music. Maybe this is the year to take them to a Brothers show ... Of course, they've been to see Donna Hopkins more than a dozen times -- they're good friends with Donna's 7-year old daughter India. India sings with her mom on "Everything Money Can't Buy," one of the tracks on Donna's CD -- and that was the cut chosen to be included on the Atlanta Magazine Music Compilation CD. India even gets special mention in the magazine write-up! India sang the song with her mom at the Dogwood Festival in front on 10,000 people and in her intro Donna dedicated the song to all the kids in the audience -- and she mentioned Ronnie and Angelica by name! My kids still talk about that ...

Hey Lib .. good to see ya posting ....Totally explains why Brent insists on holding my hand while entering the venue, and again while exiting the venue ... He sat Scotty and I down before all 3 beacon shows and gave us the "do's" and "dont's" talk ...came in handy when a bad man tried to hand me a funny cigarette....

Pam, Lana and Libby, My feelings exactally,, the ABB has always been about Family ... and thats a Vibe that will never change,,,,seeing all of 4 generation's of the Truck's family at the GotV warmed my heart 🙂 I talked with Derek's Mom's for a bit,,,and said 'I'm sure your very proud of your son!" and a big Mother's smile came over her face and said 'We sure are! 🙂 sure some venues are more rowdy than others...but, thats music... and know Pam and Lana very well, I know how tolerent they are...and what great Mothers and Ladies they are ...and all the other folks who bring their children...they Love the Music...and its the Music that brings us all togeather into one Family...

I feel an Allman Brothers show, A dTb show, a DB&GS show is a PERFECT place for children!!! My children have experienced Phil and Friends live, they loved it, they especially loved watching the crowd. I saw the Allman Brothers for the first time when I was 9 years old. I commend my parents for taking me into that atmosphere, reason being, they prepared me for what I may see, they didn't exaggerate either. At the time my mother was 53 years old, my Dad was 44..... their age never stopped them from doing what they enjoyed, nor did having a child deter them. I've loved music for as long as I can remember, they were teaching me the ways of the world in technicolor :). The one thing I remember about that day is not the Allmans or Dead particularly, but the way my parents danced with me and enjoyed themselves. People around us were half naked, smoking pot and no telling what else, but they weren't bothering anyone. I've taken my kids to many concerts, they were very young when they started, they loved it. Their Dad and I prepared them for things they may see. In Charlotte a few years ago, someone lit up in front of Drew, he and I changed places because it bothered him (no, I didn't smoke)......if we want to raise good children, we need to teach them the ways of the world, let them know what's out there, tell them what's right and wrong. School shouldn't be the only place our kids get an education, it starts at home. So I commend Pam, Ron_e and Beth, Gary, Neil G and Neil M...Ron Currens, Lana, JimB and even Brent.....he drags his boys, Dino and Scotty to as many concerts as he can...and we all know those two aren't the best behaved at times :D....seriously, if you want to take your child to a concert, do it! Just remember the ear protection and if you're taking a child to a Panic show, maybe some knee and elbow pads and a hockey mask. Peace

Hey there sweet family, Pam, I'm with you. To add to the list of ABBoppers: Jaimoe's girls, Bert's girls, Sarah Everhart, Benjamin's Emily, Marley (hah! 😉 ), Arielle Bondar ... Sheyenne grew up with the ABB and couldn't have had better Uncles (thank you, sweet men! *k*) or more wonderful memories. Not sure if all venues do this, but Alltel Pavilion has a section of the Lawn designated as a Family Area - no smoking or alcoholic beverages allowed. It's hugely popular. Go Alltel :clapping: Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

Guess where I was 32 years ago tonight? In Central Park, listening to the Allman Brothers Band. I went to see the late show with my sister and her boyfriend. As soon as we entered the park at 59th and 5th Avenue, we could hear the ABB playing "Liz Reed." We listened to the rest of the first show while standing in line to get into the late show. Actually, I walked around the pathways going behind the stage and had a great view of the band coming off and waiting to go back for the encore. The crowd was crazy, it was an incredibly beautiful night, and I was close enough to see how much fun the band was having, smiling, messing around until they went back out for the encore. I've never heard the tapes or CDs of the shows, but it was one of the best New York nights I've ever had.

The movies? If I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to an ABB show or to the movies, she would pick the ABB show. We are going to an ABB show too, and real soon and I will have her there with me. We will be on the lawn at the Meadows in Hartford where she has been to about 8 shows there now. I have seen plenty of kids at ABB shows. Just last week I saw Little Charlie Trucks, and Derek's siblings Duane and Lindsey. Kids are at shows a lot including Butch's grandbabies, Oteil's nephews, friends of the band bring their kids, a few others from here bring their kids to shows too. It is the parents choice to bring their children if they wish to do so. My child is a well behaved child and she has rules to follow at shows and she is reminded of them on the ride there. As long as she wants to hang out with her Mommy and I can feel it is an appropriate place to bring her along I sure will. These are her growing up years and I would rather have her with me at a show sharing the experience of the music, than hanging out with a babysitter watching TV.

Dude, I'm money and don't even know it !! Wait a second, you're money Brother ... My only contribution so far to the Vegas trip is saying, "Sure Brent, I'm in ..." When Shannon Tweed said you had a "cute munchkin", was she referring to your child ?

Went to the Mall (the Grove) in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. Ran into Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed. My buddy plays bass in a punk band in Diego so he had to groupie Gene about his book and all. Gene wasn't really in the talking mood, but did take a second to be polite. Shannon said my kid was "a cute munchkin." I was going to tell her that I have seen all of her soft porn movies but I couldn't remember the name of any of them. Probably a good thing I kept my mouth shut. 2 minutes later we run into Ralphie from "Last Comic Standing" and his girlfriend. I don't watch the show, but my other half does. Ralphie might be the nicest guy living. 2 minutes of talking to him & the kid is trying to give me his cell phone # so we can get passes at the Comedy Shop. Give him 25 years of freakers coming up to him and telling him he is the greatest and he may change though. 😉 The real reason I am here: Who is going to VEGAS!!!! Dino, you are so money!

OldABBFan....and you didn't holler or do jumping jacks or throw something to get my attention? Interesting venue, eh? What about the band having to play in the dark for a little bit? Kinda funny. That Sam Taylor is a hoot! I was watching Derek during "Going Down Slow" and he was grinning ear to ear as Sammy did his thing. Saturday was awesome, too. What a beautiful day to be outside and walking around Prospect Park (even if I did get blisters!) anticipating another DTB show. Brooklyn's own Mike Mattison opened with his band, Scrapomatic, and then the Tony Trischka band played some funky bluegrass/fusion. DTB took the stage and I was transported. Something about dancing barefoot under the summer evening sky to the DTB is just so 'right' y'know?! Everything is everything. DTB will be playing Town Hall in NYC November 15. Great venue. Bring on Montage!!
