Can anyone please find the post where I called Bush a Nazi? I've gone back and looked and looked and be damned if I can find it. What I said was that the Nazi party came to power by creating fear among the people and then promising to keep them safe. Bushes number one campiagn tactic is to talk about how we are in danger from terrorist attacks (compare the number of people killed by terrorists with the number of people killed on the highways each day and see where our real danger lies. Our fear of terrorism is way out of line with the reality) and that he can keep us safe while Kerry cannot. I'm not saying a single thing that you won't hear if you turn on your TV and listen for an hour or so. I hope SmilingJack reposts the quote he just sent to me. To reiterate: I did not call Bush a Nazi. I said look at history (and used several examples including Julius Caesar) and you will see a very clear picture of the tactic the Repubicans are using now and that it has been used time and time again. The Nazi's are just one of the groups that successfully used this tactic. Who knows? Maybe if elected (I'm reticent to use the word :re-elected) Bush will become a Socialist (sic).

I can't believe We would swear off each others FRIENDSHIP and MUSIC, after we've enjoyed those friendships and music for 20 or 30 yrs. in most cases, over a differance of opinions!!! I wonders if maybe We all got just a touch of Nazi in us? Last night at the Chicago Mule show up at the front of the line, I had an awsome and lengthy conversation (about music)with a wonderfull young man from here on the GB, We didn't exchange names, but I get the feelin' maybe it was You MARLEY, if so thanx for a great conversation and SORRY about My slightly inebriated condition!!! Off to Ann Arbor now. PEACE TO ALL

Brent, Leon, and others: I'm voting for John Kerry for the following reasons: One, because of his stance on the environment: As president, John Kerry will reverse the Bush-Cheney rollbacks to our Clean Air Act, plug loopholes in the law, take aggressive action to stop acid rain, and use innovative, job-creating programs to reduce mercury emissions and other emissions that contribute to global warming. He will work with states on the toughest water quality challenges, restore damaged watersheds, protect wetlands, invest in our waterfronts and coastal communities, and protect our oceans. Plus, while it isn't a central part of his campaign, he wants America to become energy independent. He's going to push for alternative energy sources that are clean, affordable, and reliable. And stop our dependance on foreign oil. That's huge in my opinion. He's also going to balance our budget. That's another huge issue. One of the problems of the Bush administration is the massive budget deficit he's created. That's slowly choking our country. I'm voting for Kerry because he will protect our ports and borders. Something that this president is not doing to the extent that it should be. I'm voting for Kerry because he will make our country respected around the world again. He will actually work with the world community instead of pushing them aside. That is something that's absolutely critical in the world wide war on terror. We need to be making friends, not more enemies Yes, I truly believe that the Bush administration is leading this country in the wrong path. However, I also strongly believe that Kerry will get us back in the right direction. Please vote! Those are the reasons I'm voting for Kerry....

One reason only is needed not to vote for kerry: www.cpusa.org Kerry is being backed by the communist party of america. This is only one of many radical groups putting money behind kerry. I certainly hate to see the guestbook turning to politics. best regards, owen

I've been following along for a few days just for kicks and grins. And two things have really jumped out at me. 1. The person that started all this, was most upset with the hate and fear tactics used by the "other" side. Then he goes on to compare the "other" side to the Nazi party. This is sickening, and hypocricy at its biggest. It is completely offensive to ALL people in the US that have made sacrifices through generations. Making this comparison is nothing more than a scare tactic and people on both sides of the aisle should join in defending this stance. So cut it out and find another argument. There are plenty of other ways to put down Bush and his adminstration and policies, than comparing them to a murderous, hate desirous regime. 2. Leon posted asking for someone to please give him a reason to vote for Kerry, ignoring reasons why not to vote for Bush. In 24 hours and roughly 50 posts, only 1 person responded. This leads me to believe that noone really has anything good to say about Kerry. Either that or they have zero idea what is good about the guy or what he will bring to the table. So is 50% of the country voting for Kerry becuase they hate Bush? If you are going to complain that the "other" side is hateful then don't go on to tear down the other side without giving the pros of your own candidate. This is not a condemnation of either side, just an observation. But it does seem like a good political debate would be more effective if we talked about pros and cons of both candidates rather than saying vote for this candidate cause the other one is just like Hitler.

Butch wrote: We are all in complete agreement about our choice too: ABB-Anybody But Bush. If you think I am trying to tell you who to vote for you are correct. I have read and studied and collected information from many sources to try and make an informed decision about my choice. It seems so absolutely self evident to me that I am completely at a loss that this election could even be close. I don't think it would be close if the Democratic Party had a better candidate. You say ABB Anybody but Bush. That tells me you are not completely taken with Kerry either.

I'm a little confused Rick...you seem upset that Butch called you stupid????Did you not write this to him first... Butch, I respect your passion and sensitivities relative to voting and the Supreme Court decision affecting the vote in your home State. Nevertheless, aside from your passion, the fact is, legal EXPERTS with extensive and significant knowledge into all aspects of law ruled, and ruled in favor of the person you oppose. That said, your comments and opinions on this matter are about "you dont know what in the hell you are talking about" about the same as some kid who just picked up a set of drum sticks and wants to tell YOU (the expert in THIS matter) you play Dreams incorrectly. You would basically ignore the opinion of the TOTALLY uninformed, which, in comparison to a Supreme Court Judge, you are my friend. In other words, I respect your lack of support to the decision, nevertheless, you lose my respect when you attempt to come across to know as much about the law as a Supreme Court Judge, or even a newly graduated lawyer for that matter, even though you I am certain researched the matter in depth. In other words, my suggestion would be to keep passion and knowledge separate in matters such as this.

SmilinJack.... You are correct in that analysis, except you completely forgot Butch simply just said, in effect, we dont agree so I wont talk to you anymore, and BTW Rick you are stupid. Actually spoke to several GB'ers last night who saw that pretty clearly....and I think a couple of 'em are gonna vote for Kerry. Actually, Butch's behavior hurts me somewhat. We have a long history and it ain't been a bed of roses, but then again, one should not expect that. But we had buried the hatchet earlier this year and moved on. So Butch, if I offended you in some way or pushed a button, I am sorry (again). We dont agree on all aspects of our politics, but we share common ground on life matters. But Butch, before you conclude I am some buffoon or idiot, let me give you a dose of the real world. I am planning to extend an invitation to you to my next scheduled public speech. Within my area of speciality I have been awarded the title of Distinguished Lecturer for 2004-2006 and people actually want to know what is on my mind. Can you believe that? Yeah, I know. That audience of the best engineering and medical minds in the world come to hear me and it ain't as cool as the back of the tour bus or backstage, or even this GB, nevertheless as I see these academians and great technical minds actually taking notes of what little 'ol RT has to say, including, policy makers (and liberals I might add) in DC that are as we speak trying to develop protocols and procedures that will keep your liberal ass SAFE and ALIVE during a bioterrorist attack, then I will think of you Butch. That is a promise. Today is the Jam for Duane. Jimmy Hall said it best last night that he felt Duane was with us last night and for the Jam and that we honor his legacy by holding this event. I will give it my best for the man who started it all, Brother Duane. Y'all have a good day. Rick Tomlinson

Marley, THANKS for posting that setlist - I missed a great show but have been having a blast with my two kids blasting Duane Allman all day and night now for 2 days - 2 to go. If I can't be at the Jam for Duane, at least I can Jam Duane. 😎 If Jeanne were president I would watch a whole lot more of Presidential footage. :winky:

With all due respect Dino; once our rights are taken away anything can happen...Elie Wiesel made a powerful statement about speaking up .... so something so horrific NEVER happens again. Others see the similarities as well...and we can't close our eyes and pretend that we just don't see. From: Corey Dietz Dateline: 4/10/04 Millions of people listen to Radio each day. Unfortunately, their choice of programs and radio personalities is slowly being taken away. It seems the government is on a crusade to limit certain types of speech on the air. The government agency which ultimately controls the airwaves has begun a campaign to insure only “proper” types of content and speech are disseminated to the people. Although the changes have encountered some resistance, there are many people who don’t realize the implications of having free speech controlled by a small group of men. Does this sound familiar? Do you think I'm talking about 2004? No. I'm referring to 1939. And not the United States of America.... ...Nazi Germany. The small group of men alluded to is not the Federal Communications Commission. It’s the Reich Broadcasting Board. The limits on speech has nothing to do with the recent Radio indecency crackdown. I'm referring to the offical Nazi policy which replaced free speech on German radios with only Nazi approved channels. It’s something to think about.
