On Just Before The Bullets Fly they had the drummer, guitar player, sax player and keyboard player from Galactic come out and jam. Not sure of their names but the setlists needs to be updated to reflect this changes. Was a great show, especially Bullets. They played a lot of songs I hadn’t heard this summer, NOTRW, All Night Train, Instrumental, etc…
I had forgotten that I wrote that post in anticipation of this show, but it lived up to all expectations plus! As Frisko pointed out, “Dreams” was also my highlight, but I thoroughly enjoyed Mt.Jam! Yeah, it was fun watching the lead guitarist of Galactic, standing there in awe of Derek and Warren with his jaw dropping down to his knees! Well, I guess a lot of musicians might be intimidated standing next to that duo (probably the highlight of his career)!
Overall, one of my most enjoyable shows in recent years! Like I said earlier, after 32 yrs. of seeing my favorite group …….it only keeps getting better!! 🙂
Overall I thought it was kind of a laid back show with a quiet audience, at least down front. It looked there were alot of equipment problems for Warren. Derek had a really strong night and sounded fantastic. I loved Mtn. Jam, Dreams, and Woman Across the River. We had a great time, I hope someone puts this show and the Raleigh show on Furthur. Thanks to Marc for the drumstick!
great show to end current leg of tour – “Dreams” was highlight of the show, Derek Truck’s slide solo during Dreams – in the spirit of Duane’s renditiion.
Of all the years we have seen the Allman Brothers, this was by far the best of the best. They played alot of new material that was truly fantastic. Galatic was fantastic also. One of the best parts of the show was when the Brothers did a jam with members of Galactic. It was interesting to note that these guys may not have been born when the Allman Brothers first came together. It just goes to show you that the Allman Brothers Band has “legs” in a very highly competative business. I would love to see them nominated for a grammy for their new material. Hopefully they will continue touring and come back to Virginia Beach next year.
WOULD LOVED HAVE TO HAVE BEEN THERE AGAIN WITH BROTHERS STEVE & ALTON BUT LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM SOON WITH THEIR SWEET GIRLS JULIE & HEIDI. MISS YOU ALL & HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON. LOOKIN FORWARD TO SEEING THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND AGAIN AT VERIZON WIRELESS (WHAT WE USED TO CALL LAKEWOOD)-REALLY COOL BIRTHDAY THING! SAVANNAH AND ATLANTA!
Unfortunatelly I can’t be there ’cause I’m stuck down here in Brazil but my two sons Henrique (22) & Diego (19) are gonna be there for sure. Long live AAB.
I’ll be there, like I have ever since I first saw the Brothers in 1969, w/Duane & Greg & family! Let’s see, I was 12 then and now I’m 44, but I enjoy them now more than I ever have! Like they say,” With age comes widom!”
