You might not be, but a large majority of Americans are, and have proven many times over to be responsible citizens who own guns.
Perspective is everything I guess. One might look at the long list of mass shootings (another one yesterday, ho hum) in recent years, the children being killed accidentally by finding dad's loaded unlocked gun, inner-city crime, that we have proven many times over to be embarrassingly irresponsible.
A large majority of immigrants, legal or not, are not rapists and murders. A large majority of welfare recipients are not drug addicted sloths. A large majority of politicians are not criminals. The phrase "it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch" can be applied to almost anything.
You knew it was just a matter of time.
US arms maker markets Christian-themed assault rifle ?
An arms maker in Florida is engraving Christian symbols on its assault rifles, features that its maker says are intended to keep the weapons out of Muslim hands, in a marketing ploy denounced by a Muslim group as fomenting "hatred, division and violence."
The "Cruzado" assault rifle is inscribed with the cross of the Knights Templar, a religious order that fought in the Crusades, and a psalm from the Bible -- features that its maker, Spike's Tactical, says are intended to keep the weapons out of Muslim hands.
"We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda," said Ben Thomas, spokesman for the company, which is based in Apopka, Florida.
The Christian symbols would prevent the guns from being shipped to the Middle East, he said, claiming the rifles have been a hit with the company's customers.
"We sold out of rifles in the first 72 hours and there's a backlog of several weeks," he said, declining to say how many have sold.
The Florida branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement decrying "this manufacturer's fancy new gun."
"This is just another shameful marketing ploy intended to profit from the promotion of hatred, division, and violence," it said.
Thomas, asserting he was not a bigot, insisted: "If they think the word of Jesus Christ causes hatred, they don't understand Jesus Christ."
In the last couple days in this area we have had 4 kids shot, 1 of them dead.
It's sad. 🙁
This past year here in Indy has been very violent. It seems like almost every day when I get up in the morning and turn on the local news someone is getting shot, murdered and etc... it's awful.
We RARELY go to the movies . This past summer as part of our vacation we did go with our children. It was brought up in the car about some of the shootings and attacks in movie theaters over the last few years. Kinda made me a little paranoid going in. You never know...
I am not sure what the solution is. People have they're thoughts and opions, and politcal views on it.
I try and think positive about the times we lve in, its hard. So much darkness and corruption.
There is good, but society seems out of control in the wrong way.
I just pray about it.
