Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister, ambassador, officials say

not surprising muleman started a new thread about a discredited story. he's still waiting for his talking points on this one.

It's not surprising to me that Trump would ask that Flynn investigation get dropped. He just doesn't understand how these things work. He doesn't understand how anything in Washington works.
In my view, the fact that the information is being reported now is more damaging than if it had been said and been kept in secret without anybody else knowing.
With all due respect, he's not only putting that foreign asset in danger, but he's jeopardizing our national security by displaying to our allies that we cannot adequately protect sensitive intelligence. His recklessness can and will get people killed. There is no defense or justification of this.
Only because we and the whole world knows it now. I can't believe that this is the only time that a US President has discussed or disclosed sensitive or classified information with representatives of a foreign country. I get it is different, it is Russia in light of the 2016 events and it is Trump. So that causes the anxiety level to rise. I personally just see no problem leaving private conversations be private and often everyone is better off without knowing about them. As it is now, the asset could be in danger and national security could be compromised because of the press report.

With each and every day Trump digging himself a deeper and deeper hole, how long can the Republicans in congress keep protecting him? It's almost like Trump is challenging them, daring them to do something.

I personally just see no problem leaving private conversations be private and often everyone is better off without knowing about them.
No matter what is said?
Really?

As it is now, the asset could be in danger and national security could be compromised because of the press report.
You mean, because of the President. The press is just doing its job - the leader lost his team and broke the rules. Not the press.

McMaster's knows that the story did not say he revealed sources and methods so he can make this statement without lying. Unfortunately Trump gave the Russians enough intel to figure it out. When you get this type of intel from a secret source you are not supposed to share it with anyone, there are a few exceptions but to give this to an adversary is unbelievable.
Clearly Trump is compromised by the Russians and is a traitor to this country.
I'm redacting my response because some of the things it led to (videos). Hillary wants to keep her intimacies private, she has a right to do that. I feel more empathy for Bill after some of the stuff I saw. But it was interesting that reporters saw Hillary with an ID from the Communist party, if that is someone's affiliation, they should just proclaim that, not hide it under the cloak of democracy.

Well, you don’t know what you don’t know. But yeah, I don’t think that we need to know everything that is said in government meetings beyond whatever their official statements are. I just don’t have an appetite for that type of information or knowledge and think big picture security interests are better off that way.
As it is now, the asset could be in danger and national security could be compromised because of the press report.

If nobody knew of the report who would know about whatever was discussed?
Some are assuming that because Russia knows this bit of information they would act in such a way that would undermine it. We don’t know that. They may or they may not. The information may have been of value to them as well for their security concerns. Did they know they were receiving something classified when it was told, or was it just a general conversation about said topic of a back-and-forth discussion? Now with it being public knowledge the whole world knows about it rather than just the people in the room at the White House.
I totally get why people are freaked out because it is Trump...and Russia.....But to me it makes not difference what President it is or would’ve been or historically was.
The issue here is that there is such a demand for leaked information, there is a big incentive for people to leak information and then of course the press for their own purposes of brand name promotion or whatever they put it out there. You could say they are doing their job as a check on our system...ok...I’m more inclined in this day and age to think it has more of a self-promotion element than otherwise. More of a ‘look what we have’ or ‘look what our team was able to acquire’ ‘we are the first to break this’ ‘we get credit for this and everyone will credit us for it’. Plus you have a President and an administration that much of the press and population in general absolutely despises who actively seek and desire as much bad news as possible.
But yeah, Obama, Bush, Clinton, whoever...what our President says to others in private meetings I feel should be in confidence. I’m just one person and that is one opinion.

Then why was Obama scandal-free for 8 years? Fox News made the same attempts but they were unsuccessful. A good leader won't produce ammo for his opposition. Liberals wrongly tried it with W over WMD's because they let their emotions cloud their judgment, and they failed too. I would love to see the gov't regulate any outlet that markets itself as news, because I do believe that journalistic integrity has been tossed aside for our mainstream cable news, and has become a dangerous poison to our country. But the root of our problem today falls squarely on those producing the ammo - the Trump administration.

Then why was Obama scandal-free for 8 years?
Good one, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, Purging Gitmo , NSA spying. No fortitude by the press to do any real reporting, culminating in the favoritism granted to Hillary in the email scandal
Fox News made the same attempts but they were unsuccessful.
I dont recall fox calling Obama Hitler, a rapist, a misogynist, a psycopath, a fascit, a racisit
A good leader won't produce ammo for his opposition.
True, not all people get handed a Nobel Peace award for doing nothing.
Liberals wrongly tried it with W over WMD's because they let their emotions cloud their judgment, and they failed too.
Liberals failed because they had no spine when it mattered and went along with W to enter Iraq. Liberals couldnt unring that bell later on.
I would love to see the gov't regulate any outlet that markets itself as news, because I do believe that journalistic integrity has been tossed aside for our mainstream cable news, and has become a dangerous poison to our country.
More regulation? The liberal response comes so easy for some. Can only imagine what news would look like if it mirrored Obamacare overhaul. Liberalism is a dangerous juice for the weak and scared.

Again, just because the MSM doesnt have a tingle running up their leg about Trump shouldn't let their hatred of Trump continue to cloud their reporting.

Goob, your arguments fall apart on further inspection.
Those "scandals" that you are citing were basically created by the GOP and Fox News and any investigations found nothing.
If you do not remember Fox saying those things, you either did not watch Fox or yoiou ae lying.
The Nobel Peace prize was awarded by the Nobel commission in Sweden. To use that against Obama is weak.
W lied about WMD's in Iraq. What would the conservative response be if a Dem had done that? Let me help you. Multiple investigations and talk of impeachment. I guess, in your mind, a president can lie if he is Republican.
Are you saying that the ACA overhaul should be passed? Despite the fat that the CBO has not come out with their findings?
Hatred of Trump. No, they are just reporting what rump and his people say and do. Please tell us the lies we have heard from the MSM about Trump. We'll wait.

Tell you what Goober, if after 7 separate investigations they find no Trump-Russia connection (as happened in Bengazi investigations), I will stop calling the Trump-Russia situation a scandal. Maybe you should stop referring to Bengazi as a scandal now too.

No fortitude by the press to do any real reporting
Translation: "I have no use for anything that does not validate my own worldview."

This stuff is hilarious after all these years.
Coming up on 25 years of daily hatred of liberals and yet, it all means nothing.
Total control of the White House and Congress for the second time since 2000 and...nothing from the GOP and their devoted followers. The first time around, their President didn't issue a veto in six years and economy collapsed at the end of his second term.
Why aren't we living in Conservatopia by now?
No answers.
No solutions.
No legislation about jobs, the economy, nothing.
Nothing on healthcare. Passed hundreds of symbolic repeal measures for years and once they finally get something passed, by one vote, it's already doomed to die.
No leadership.
No governance.
Just a consistent hatred of liberals or anyone else that disagrees with them. Quite a track record.

Benghazi, Fast and Furious, Purging Gitmo , NSA spying.
Why didn't the GOP do anything about any of it? Why didn't their righteous moral superiority prevail?
10 separate investigations and a Special Committee on Benghazi alone.
Why couldn't the GOP convict Hillary Clinton?
Who failed who?

Can only imagine what news would look like if it mirrored Obamacare overhaul.
You mean the first overhaul effort that failed or the one that passed by one vote and has zero chance of getting out of the Senate?

Liberalism is a dangerous juice for the weak and scared.
Conservatism is a selfish and convenient copout for people who don't give a **** about anyone else. Here we are.

fantastic comments bhawk.
since the late 90's....conservatives....finally came into some kind of power in congress and since then the greatest thing they have done is be a party of opposition. they are great at saying NO....i mean really great.
but they have no record of passing meaningful legislation.
when i was younger.....i was taught that the GOP meant something more than just NO
but i have have learned that they are not capable of agreeing with even those within their own party
i have always felt that what is best for the country is a progressive congress and a conservative president
that model is now busted and has been for 20+( edit ok since mid to late 80's since i woke up?) years because there is too much lying
today i believe that conservatives....or a faction of them.....want to see the USA broken up and states have the rights to do horrible things to people living in them
there is no compassion in some groups for others in our country and this will continue
i have no idea how this can be fixed

that is a very poor speech about what i really feel

We are not all blind followers. Right now I am in the car with Trump and we were supposed to go to the kwiikie mart for beers but instead he is saying we have to run a few errands first? Eventually I think we will get to the grocery store so I am still supportive (but annoyed). On the other hand GOP leaders and such promised me a ride to the kwikie mart but never bothered to show up. I am very disappointed in the disorganization and in-fighting at a time when we should be more united and getting to work.
As our friend Allaok would quote "dysfunctional govt is a functioning govt" I would rather see disfunction than bad bills. There will be changes and adjustments learning to govern. Last week the NY Times reported he just filled his cabinet (story ran on May 11).
Already seeing a difference in a positive way. Remember the "Shovel -Ready" Stimulus bill Barry meekly signed which was a big kickback to all things DNC ? Or what about earmarks? The bill was riddled with earmarks.
At least I feel comfortable knowing the man at the top is calling the shots.

So Roger Ailes and Fox News failed you then?
I dont recall fox calling Obama Hitler, a rapist, a misogynist, a psycopath, a fascit, a racisit
What's your point? They still failed.
True, not all people get handed a Nobel Peace award for doing nothing.
Got it, now the Nobel Foundation is a hack liberal bias group.
Liberalism is a dangerous juice for the weak and scared.
Says the guy supporting a $20 billion wall, and an unconstitutional travel ban, and creates a boogeyman in his head just like a child. Who's scared and weak again?

Well good thing Fox News is around to keep things fair and balanced, right?

If you are in the car with Trump, he is driving you off the cliff. He has demonstrated zero leadership capabilities. On the other hand he has demonstrated exceptional skills at living one self inflicted and chaotic issue to the next. Each day is a challenge for him to cover up for the previous day's lies and misstatements.
Goob - Did you see Trump's joint press conference with the prez of Columbia yesterday. Trump answering question was nothing more than a running diatribe of disjointed talking points. He is uncomfortable & incapable of answering questions that require extemporaneous delivery and a modicum of knowledge of subject matter. He is much better at campaigning and inciting right wing bases. Unfortunately for Trump, his campaign is over...even though he continues to give campaign speeches and continues to let the press know of his great victory since he needs self reassurance.
In a way, one can almost feel sorry for him (well...maybe not) because he is in way over of his head. Sitting behind a desk, ordering personnel to do real estate deals, and bullying people in his private businesses does not translate to leadership and governing a country that exists with checks and balances on a wannabe autocrat or despot.

To be honest, I'm not concerned about Trump himself. I'm confident in our system of checks and balances. It's been working. I'm more concerned that so many Americans fell for the fear-mongering, and like children created the evil liberal boogeymen in their head to feel more safe and comfortable.

The NY Times story today is fake news. Trump never said it. It's a liberal witch hunt. And trust me, I know the NY Times is lying, and I know Trump hasn't done anything wrong. Although I work in construction and never majored in political science or law, and don't have any Washington inside sources, I still know the truth about what goes on in The White House. #maga

2 more sets of newly released "great info" reported today on President Witchhunt. Everyday more drip drip drip. Captain chaos boards AF1 & heads out of Dodge.
Maybe things will be better for him in foreign countries. Maybe while he's outside of the states we can make a trade for a leader? How about Trump and 2 draft choices for a 1 stable, competent, and articulate statesman?

Are you kidding? Let the negotiations begin ......on a number of fronts -Energy, Opec, Terrorism, Foreign aid, and Intel. He may suck at Roberts Rules of Order but we need a negotiator.
It will be covered in imense detail. Lets see whos prediction will be closer to the truth.

The guy with an attention span of an 8 week old puppy will negotiate nothing. He is out of his league on the world stage. Remember, this is the guy that couldn't get his own party to back his campaign promises.

No country would take Trump, even if you threw in a billion dollars.

He hasn't negotiated a thing yet. He has yet to have one of his bills become law. He's failed with his wall, both with Mexico paying for it and even getting US funding through congress, even with his party in complete control.
He may be the worst negotiator in history, with the possible exception of Bill O'Reilly trying to get a date.

He is calling the shots but accomplishing nothing.
His itinerary this coming week is: Saudi Arabia, Israel meeting with their Prime Minister and Mahmoud Abbas, of the Palestinian contingent, and he meets with the Pope at the Vatican on Wednesday, eventually he'll be off the to G-7 Summit, that's all within less than 2 weeks.
I think things may get better with Israel. Ismail Haniya is now the successor of Khaled Meshaal, of Hamas. Ismail is not only extremely handsome, he is an Imam, and a scholar. Trump can begin to learn from the people he needs to learn from. Even the Pope, now I don't think he will have a long discussion with him, but his education regarding the various sects of people is beginning.
The Middle East leaders want to meet and get to know Trump. Even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wanted to have a dialogue with Trump. People are starting to have hope again that things can change and be different. I am very optimistic also because I came across a boatload of prophecies, and one of the more striking ones is that God will give the US a reprieve from any of the disasters that were slated to take place. The reprieve is for 3 years counting off from September 2016, and that co-incides with Trumps Presidency. If he does make good on his promise to Make America Great Again, things can change. If we continue bombing, shooting, killing others in other lands, looting their resources, God will allow others to take us down so that we cease being a world super power. I mentioned this in my thread. By the way, the future potential invasion of Russian and North Korean forces coming in to the Gulf of Mexico to make landfall here would be from their using Cuba and Venezuela.
