On the other hand, maybe he's trying NOT to get elected...
1776 all over again if the 2nd amendment is changed? Lol. There won't be a war. Just a lot of dead, wounded, and arrested gun enthusiasts while our soldiers don't get a scratch on them. Let's see if our anti-gun crowd can make that happen. It'll be a sad day.

If he insults rednecks, then it's over. Pretty much that is all he has left. He's pretty much confirmed that he knows nothing about the Bible, yet the evangelicals still like him. You can't be subtile with some people.
CNN found the guy behind Trump in the red shirt who had opened his mouth in amazement at the comment. He is a Trump supporter but said he would have taken Trump to the shed to have a talk with him because these things are not said in public in the south. He said the people around him felt the same way. He was guarded but appeared honest and he said a lot with his shed talk. He also said this is the kind of stuff you talk about in the shed and not in public.
In this sense one could say it was a dog whistle and it was interpreted that way by his followers.
Did come off as an angry, unemployed bitter racist?
I don't think Trump is actually calling for one of his supporters to kill Hillary, although I think he chose those words to once again make sure he made the news cycle. The problem is that there are certainly some lunatic supporters of his that might take this as a call to kill Hillary or anyone else they deem as a threat to the 2nd Ammendment. I don't think Trump understands quite how dangerous his rhetoric is. There are a lot of nutcases out there.
Even Trump doesn't know what he's thinking so no one is in a position to determine whether his violent encouragement is serious except the Secret Service.
I agree that anyone listening to him could take it as a signal to assassinate someone - anyone who disagrees with Trump. He is, after all, the candidate of one of the two major political parties. He's not a fringe candidate. His calls to action are legitimized by the GOP until they have the guts to say otherwise in a united stand.

Reagan daughter blasts Trump for inciting violence
(CNN) - The daughter of Ronald Reagan is citing her father's shooting as evidence that comments like Donald Trump's recent blast against Hillary Clinton have real-world consequences.
"To Donald Trump: I am the daughter of a man who was shot by someone who got his inspiration from a movie, someone who believed if he killed the President the actress from that movie would notice him," Patti Davis wrote in a Facebook post that went up late Wednesday night.
"Your glib and horrifying comment about 'Second Amendment people' was heard around the world," Davis continued. "It was heard by sane and decent people who shudder at your fondness for verbal violence. It was heard by your supporters, many of whom gleefully and angrily yell, 'Lock her up!' at your rallies. It was heard by the person sitting alone in a room, locked in his own dark fantasies, who sees unbridled violence as a way to make his mark in the world, and is just looking for ideas," Davis wrote. "Yes, Mr. Trump, words matter. But then you know that, which makes this all even more horrifying."
During a campaign rally Tuesday, Trump had said "Second Amendment people" could do something to stop Clinton -- a remark some interpreted as inciting violence. Trump has accused the media of distorting his comments.
John Hinckley shot Reagan in March 1981, after being inspired by the 1976 film "Taxi Driver," in which Robert DeNiro's character plots to assassinate a presidential candidate. Hinckley has been ordered released from a Washington psychiatric hospital last month.

Former New Hampshire Senator Gordon Humphrey (R-NH) said Trump is a “nut cake” and a “looney bird,” so he has “issued a call to members of the RNC this afternoon to demand an emergency meeting of the Republican National Committee to strip Donald Trump of the nomination and to replace him with someone of sound mind.”

Donald Trump’s campaign and top Republican Party officials plan what one person called a “come to Jesus” meeting on Friday in Orlando to discuss the Republican nominee’s struggling campaign, according to multiple sources familiar with the scheduled sit-down.

Another "major overhaul" for the Trump campaign. If there was any doubt that Breitbart has been a Trump campaign mouthpiece, I think this new hire by the campaign erases it...
Trump campaign undergoes major overhaul
(CNN) - Donald Trump's campaign is undergoing a major staff shakeup with less than three months to Election Day, adding two officials to top posts overseeing his struggling campaign.
Trump has named Steve Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News and a former investment banker, to the post of chief executive and promoted Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser and pollster to his campaign, to the position of campaign manager, Conway confirmed to CNN early Wednesday morning.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the news of the campaign overhaul.
Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign's chairman and chief strategist, will stay on as campaign chairman, Conway said.
"I look at it as an expansion of the team. Paul remains as Chairman," Conway told CNN.
The news came as tensions mounted inside Trump's campaign in recent weeks and as Trump's relationship with Manafort soured to the point that several people close to the campaign warned that a major staff shakeup might be imminent, sources close to the campaign told CNN.
The shakeup follows several weeks of negative headlines and alarming polls for Trump who is trailing Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee, in nearly every key battleground state and lagging in the latest national polls.
In a statement from the campaign Wednesday morning outlining the changes, Trump said he was willing to do "whatever it takes to win this election."
"I have known Steve and Kellyanne both for many years. They are extremely capable, highly qualified people who love to win and know how to win," Trump said in the statement. "I believe we're adding some of the best talents in politics, with the experience and expertise needed to defeat Hillary Clinton in November and continue to share my message and vision to Make America Great Again."
The shakeup marks the second major change in the top rungs of the billionaire's campaign.
Trump just two months ago fired his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski after weeks of internal fighting between Lewandowski and Manafort, who was initially brought on to oversee Trump's efforts to stave off the possibility of a contested convention.

Hardcore right-wingers that have been salivating for years to take off the gloves and throw as much mud and blood as possible at the Democrats are about to get their wish with the Bannon hire. Here comes the nastiest finish to a campaign in modern history.
How is Trump not part of the establishment with insider deals like these?
By the time Chris Christie became governor of New Jersey, the state’s auditors and lawyers had been battling for several years to collect long-overdue taxes owed by the casinos founded by his friend Donald J. Trump.
The total, with interest, had grown to almost $30 million. The state had doggedly pursued the matter through two of the casinos’ bankruptcy cases and even accused the company led by Mr. Trump of filing false reports with state casino regulators about the amount of taxes it had paid.
But the year after Governor Christie, a Republican, took office, the tone of the litigation shifted. The state entertained settlement offers. And in December 2011, after six years in court, the state agreed to accept just $5 million, roughly 17 cents on the dollar of what auditors said the casinos owed.

About the same time that a civil suit was filed against him for sexually assaulting a teenager--a child really--Trump stopped his attacks on Bill Clinton's sex life. It would seem that this lawsuit would give Trump second thoughts about resurrecting Clinton's sexual affairs. Maybe this is a sign of desperation.
“You can't put it beyond Trump that Monica Lewinsky will play a role in this debate,” said Greg Craig, President Barack Obama’s former White House counsel, who played George W. Bush in Kerry’s 2004 debate prep, and John McCain in prep sessions against Obama in 2008. “She's got to be prepared to deal with the [Clinton] Foundation and Wall Street and super PACs and all of that. They need to be less focused on dealing with his policy proposals and more on dealing with the unexpected. He’s going to be in attack mode, probably the whole time.”
Pretty funny exchange between CNN anchor and Trump staffer about Trump's recent nosedive in the national polls, which all now show Clinton with a lead (even Rasmussen has her +2 now). Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
‘Says who?’ Things get awkward between Trump aide, CNN anchor
Things got awkward between a CNN anchor and an aide to Donald Trump on Wednesday, as they appeared to disagree about the existence of recent polls showing the Republican presidential candidate trailing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“Says who?” demanded Michael Cohen, a lawyer for Trump and the Trump Organization, when anchor Brianna Keilar asserted that Trump’s numbers are down.
“Polls. Most of them. All of them?” Keilar responded.
After four long seconds of complete silence, Cohen then repeated his question, and Keilar repeated her answer.

I watched that yesterday on TV. The surrogate is a goof. There is no logical explanation for his answer.
Quite frankly the surrogates for Trump have been awful or arrogant as the man, himself. I saw several one on ones with Kellyanne Conway in the last several days when her answers repeatedly had nothing to do with the questions asked. She's a pollster. When asked why Trump is losing in many of the battleground states, she responded about how percentages of voters feel how untrustworthy HC is...another diversion of an answer.
Anybody seen surrogate Boris Epshteyn's interviews? He may be more arrogant than Trump. What a piece of work this guy is.
Then there was the interview I saw with one of Trump's tax advisors. When questioned about the non release of the tax returns by Trump, this guy launched off on the Clinton Economic Plan.

Michele Bachmann says she's now advising Donald Trump on foreign policy
One of the central tenets of Donald Trump’s candidacy has been the forced deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States. But yesterday he met with his “Hispanic advisory council” and apparently backtracked, calling for a “humane and efficient” way to work with undocumented immigrants that would allow some to remain in the United States.
This morning on CNN, his campaign manager, when confronted with the contradiction, said all this is “to be determined.” To be determined? Hello? The Republican nominee for president of the United States doesn’t know his position on the most contentious issue in the 2016 campaign that he himself has stirred up?
The Trump campaign has gone from bawdy to burlesque to byzantine to utterly bizarre.

I know this kind of deplorable behavior on the part of "patriotic" Americans is not necessarily new, but it certainly seems like it becoming more commonplace and I'm afraid it will only get worse in a post-Trump America, whether he is elected or not. At least the police chief in Westbrook, Maine (a few towns over from me) has reacted appropriately, unlike our governor who continues to act like an ass...

Actually, it won't be his fault because he won't be elected. He MAY be responsible for the demise of the Republican Party, but that fault rests on the people who blindly support him. You know, low info voters.

As we've all been told countless times, it (no matter what "it" is) is Obama's fault.
