I was looking at some stuff the other day and I saw a HOF election year. I got to thinking about the best class ever inducted. I don't think anything could be better than the first in 1936: Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth.

I didn't look it up but I think the best after that I can recall was 1999: George Brett, Nolan Ryan, Robin Yount.

Maybe for MLB 2018 😛

My wife is the baseball fan in the family and she's been counting the days. Go Giants! (Can't get any worse than last season.)

You can edit the first post and change the title to 2018 Lee - unless you, as a Tiger's fan, enjoy living in the past..... 😛

And maybe, just maybe you could take sarcasm to a lower level. Oh wait! I wouldn't want you to give up your only redeeming quality. Cool

And how are your White Sux going to do this year? Probably battling it out for last place with the Tiggers I would guess. 🙁

They made some good moves in the off season. Beefed up the outfield which was a mess last year. And if they take away Bumgarner's motorcycle they might have a shot. Idiot.

Hey, it's an even number year. They seem to do well in this spot. 😉

They have the 8th highest odds of winning it all. Better than rooting for my Tiggers.

Haven't heard the nuts and bolts of what happened but they should have signed Darvish. So the Cubs got him for next to nothing. They are so afraid of the Cubs that they basically banned Chicago fans from the pre sale to get tickets there.

I live in Chicago and couldn't buy tickets. They know by your zip code and will block you.

Clever folks up in Wisconsin.

Same thing happens in Nashville - they don't let Blackhawk fans get tickets because it was a sea of red jerseys there........

I seem to recall that. Couldn't pay someone to see the Black Hawks now.

I hadn't heard this before but my best friend from Michigan said this is not uncommon for college football games. Trying to make sure locals get tickets. Kind of a silly idea IMO. Kind of easy to buy a ticket for anything online.

I am going to Florida in April. Going to see The Rays. Never been there. Really looking forward to it. They are playing the Minnesota Twinkies.

My giants did make some good moves; but it remains to be seen if their style of play can be revived or if it’s the equivalent to Phil Jackson’s triangle offense.

Otherwise 2/3 of the way into the season they (yikes) trade madbum to a contender in exchange for a ton of prospects. Then posey goes. Then I root for 2021

Except in Nashville they wouldn't let you buy online with an out of state address..... they also sold the tickets as packages - you couldn't just buy a ticket to the Blackhawks game - it was combined with another home game.....

But you're right - doesn't matter this year.....

MADBUM broke his hand. Probably wont be till June/July till we know if there are long term effects.

The Giants are through. Looking like adding salary to win might be a bad decision.

Fire sale to start later

That sucks. Now they need to fill a hole in their rotation. And right before the season starts.

MADBUM is irreplaceable and the Giants already have the second highest payroll behind the Bosox. This one isn't fixable. They made their offseason moves with the hopes of one more title run. I see no options except wholesale dismantling.

My family waited from 1954 t0 2010. We have patience

No idea what their Triple A system looks like but they obviously have to come up with something.

Here are my bets for this season:

Dodgers: Yasiel Puig over 80.5 RBI's

Cubs: Kyle Schwarber under 29.5 HRs

Cubs: Anthony Rizzo under 99.5 RBI's

Cubs: Total wins under 94.5

Orioles: Manny Machado under 99.5 RBI's

Orioles: Manny Machado will he get traded during the season. I say no.

Orioles: Adam Jones over 80.5 RBI's

Giants: Johnny Cueto over 12.5 wins

Red Sox: Mookie Betts under 100.5 runs scored

D Backs: Paul Goldschmidt under 105.5 RBI's

Tigers: Total wins over 68.5

Brewers: Took them to win the NL Central

Indians: Picked them to win the World Series

Lot of stuff to keep straight. Good thing I am not a betting man!

I took Cueto as I think maybe, just perhaps, he'll get an extra start or two with Bumgarner out a couple months. Not saying they will go to a four man rotation like the good 'ol days but ya never know. As I've already said they fortified their lineup. Should bode well for the games they play although losing their best pitcher can't help their season long chances.

Plus they have to play the Dodgers 10 times in their first 40 games I think it is.

If they can survive that, who knows?

re: Rusty.

all true; also a great cook. When I lived in NYC c 1980 Tuesday (I think it was Tues) nights rib special at his namesake Restaurant saw my friends and me on a regular basis. Used to have a yearly charity rib eating contest. Usually won by the likes of Willis Reed. One year Brook Shields won (who would of thunk.)

and re: who would have thunk. My Giants beat the Dodgers twice by a 1-0 score on Panik solo homers. Took the claw down

Boy the weather in The Midwest & East Coast is brutal for baseball. Games getting snowed out and such. I am going to the Tigers / White Sox game at Comiskey Saturday and I think the temp is going to be in the upper thirties. Doubt we will make it all. There is an enclosed bar in right field. Smile

Love Milwaukee. The beer and cheese options are ample. Grin
