The Pope's Visit to the US

9.22 Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement in Jewish religion) and the Day of Arafat in Islam.
9.23 is the anniversary of the Exodus, 3500 years ago people left Egypt. It is also the 70th year of Israel being a state. It's the fall Equinox, and the Muslim feast of Sacrifice, Eid al Adha, and they turn on the CERN particle collider. This is all the day before the Pope talks to Congress, the UN and goes to the White House. The CERN particle collider some have said can open a portal (to the abyss) and let out all kinds of dark entities.
Even just this week 9.13 & 9.14 Roshashanna - Jewish new Year.
on Tuesday 9.15 the UN was meeting and it was the Feast of Trumpets.
The Pope's schedule includes:
9.24 Talks to Congress
9.25 Talks to the United Nations, holds a mass in Madison Square Garden
9.26 Goes to Philadelphia.
Is it all a coincidence that the Pope comes here NOW? I don't think so.
In addition many people are not happy with his visit. They do not feel he did anything about the priests who have abused people. They just get transferred to other churches, even though they have committed crimes.
Do the religious mandates themselves, to priests being celibate promote their raping boys, does it attract pedophiles? Why can't priests marry and be examples of how to live in a Godly manner as his prophets and messengers were? Why don't they wear the blue garments mandated in the Bible, why are they dressed in black? They have all read the Bible but they don't wear the priestly garments the way they were told to. The only priests I have seen doing this are some in Jerusalem still practicing Aramaic masses. (which was Jesus's language). Why have they maintained Latin, why don't they just say things in English? Nobody speaks Latin or knows what they are saying.
Will he announce during his visit that he embraces a New World Order, when he knows full well the anti-Christ will rise to try to rule the world and a one world order is the only way the anti-Christ could do that.
God was very clear to the Jews, in the Old Testament, to the Gentiles in the New Testament and to the Muslims in the Quran how HE defines marriage and what is expected of priests in the priesthood. SO why doesn't the Church follow his mandates? Maybe they are NOT his church, and/or maybe they have deviated from the path originally given to them, or they are just evil people in black running around raping little boys. Somebody needs to be accountable for it, but I bet no one will ask the Pope about that.

"After Forever"
-Black Sabbath
Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?
When you think about death do you lose your breath or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope - do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light and I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared at the end of our days
Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
that God is the only way to love
Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun?
I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near, say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down, now you can't retrieve
Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate
Or will you still jeer at all you hear? Yes! I think it's too late.

The Pope is here to adress the un general assembly. Thats probably a date he cant control. The un has been a failure to the syrian people and all the refugees.

The now neocons never wanted peace in the middle east which includes Syria. (called Operation Clean Break put down on paper back in the early 1990's). It called for destabilizing the Middle East. Voila, it is almost prophetic or pathetic, or maybe both.
There is this plan for control of all the world's resources, natural and also to control people. The harp technology fries the atmosphere, increasing the drought so crops can't grow. Then they offer you GMO crops and seeds, which everyone has criticized once they know what is in them.

While the Pope is praying at Madison Square Garden,
Derek Trucks will be playing at The Beacon.
Just sayin'.........
Guess which one I'll be at...... 😉

My company made the chairs he will use in Philly. That's cool, but it's the second time we made ceremonial seating for a Pope (the first was for Benedict and W when Bendict visited the White House in 2008) so been there done that in a way. Even cooler...he is going to speak and Independence Hall using the same lectern that Abe Lincoln did when he delivered the Gettysburg Address and we were asked to make sure it was stable and made a brace that will protect both the lectern and the Pope. Good stuff.

That's pretty cool! Those chairs will be worth a lot of money now.

Well there are those that absolutely want to catch a glimpse of the Pope.
While the regular media tells you about the throngs of thousands and how you can't even see him, well, you know we are not regular reporters around here we usually get more info. He will be staying at 20 East 72 Street (which is the upper east side). The Beacon is on the west side, there is a road that runs thru Central Park the 72 Street Traverse you can use to get across town. It is the former NY Governor Hugh Carey's old residence. Carey is no longer alive.
There will be high head of state dignitary level security where he is staying, (likes snipers on the rooftops, those serious people with the earpieces etc.) so there will be no protest marches etc. There may be some in the know reporters camped out trying to get photos etc. So if you must catch a glimpse of him, that's where he will be at. Even though he is visiting, like anybody else on tour, they want to get rest when they get home to their hotel or guest house. I wonder if Derek will try to sneak a peak, though I am NOT starting any rumors or anything.

Pope Francis rocks! I'd love to go out for beers with him and Joe Biden.

Well Bob, I don't know if he drinks beer, most the priests use wine in their services.
Interesting parts of the speech to Congress:
This Rule points us in a clear direction. Let us treat others with the same passion and compassion with which we want to be treated. Let us seek for others the same possibilities which we seek for ourselves. Let us help others to grow, as we would like to be helped ourselves. In a word, if we want security, let us give security; if we want life, let us give life; if we want opportunities, let us provide opportunities. The yardstick we use for others will be the yardstick which time will use for us. The Golden Rule also reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development.
century ago, at the beginning of the Great War, which Pope Benedict XV termed a "pointless slaughter", another notable American was born: the Cistercian monk Thomas Merton. He remains a source of spiritual inspiration and a guide for many people. In his autobiography he wrote: "I came into the world. Free by nature, in the image of God, I was nevertheless the prisoner of my own violence and my own selfishness, in the image of the world into which I was born. That world was the picture of Hell, full of men like myself, loving God, and yet hating him; born to love him, living instead in fear of hopeless self-contradictory hungers". Merton was above all a man of prayer, a thinker who challenged the certitudes of his time and opened new horizons for souls and for the Church. He was also a man of dialogue, a promoter of peace between peoples and religions.

Pope Francis Just Echoed Obama's 'Offensive' Prayer Breakfast Remarks. The pontiff said all religions are susceptible to extremism and violence, just like Obama said in February. Obama's comments were criticized as "offensive," "wrongheaded" and detached from present-day reality. Of course, it's more politically acceptable to criticize the president than the pope – time will tell if Francis' remarks draw a similar response.

The Pope visits the sick...

Truer words were never spoken 😉

Pope calls for US to embrace illegals — maintains massive wall around Vatican....
Do as I say, not as I do!

Saw that on a right wing site. The Vatican is 109 acres - lots of space there!

I guess you've never been to the Vatican. No border patrol there. No passport checks. St. Peter's Square is open to the streets of Rome with no wall - only a white line on the ground marks the border. It is the easiest country in the world to visit.
Strange times we live in when conservatives seem to love the money grubbing televangelist but somehow think the Pope who advocates for the poor is somehow the Anti-Christ. If Mother Teresa was alive today I wonder if the Republicans would somehow make her out to be some kind of evil bitch.

That would that be Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church.
The Catholic Church that aids more immigrants and refugees than any other faith-based organization or charity in the world.
God Bless Pope Francis
BTW – Vatican City is an open city that welcomes all people, even those who hate.

Interesting too were the sad faces of the Democrats when Pope Francis admonished them for supporting the mass murder of babies and not respecting the citizens Religions freedoms.
Pope Francis did not call for an end to income inequality and to fight climate change.
He did call for an end to the love of money and greed and for a conversation about climate change by scientists and research institutions; not politicians.
As hard as the left have tried to label The Pope a liberal, The Pope said clearly he is not "a leftie".

God Bless Pope Francis
I'm going to double-down on my criticism, but only in this regard.
He comes to visit the one country who takes in more immigrants, gives them more aid, provides more aid to foreign countries, and provides more in social programs than any other in the world. And he tells us we should do more. That's certainly his right, but the message would go over a little better with some appreciation for what we already do.

Almost 100% of Congress stood and applauded at this line by Francis: "The Golden Rule also reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development."
Yet, THIS was his very NEXT line: "This conviction has led me, from the beginning of my ministry, to advocate at different levels for the global abolition of the death penalty."
No one rose, and very few applauded...I'm guessing that's NOT where they thought he was going.
Pope Francis did not call for an end to income inequality and to fight climate change.
He absolutely did, on both accounts!
He did call for an end to the love of money and greed and for a conversation about climate change by scientists and research institutions; not politicians.
Make no mistake, he was talking to the politicians who, to a large degree, control the funding for scientists and research institutions.

Will the Pope take in any of those Syrian refugees we keep seeing who are walking thru Hungary to get to Germany and Europe?

Again you lie. Nowhere will you find The Pope using the words “income inequality” or “fight climate change”.
“Make no mistake, he was talking to the politicians who, to a large degree, control the funding for scientists and research institutions.”
That is your interpretation which misrepresents what The Pope actually said.
Unless you mean the crony-capitalism as practiced by Obama who hands out "stimulus funds" to the so-called "green companies" who's major investors are his political donors such as the failed Solyndra.

The Pope already is and has been.
The Catholic Church that aids more immigrants and refugees than any other faith-based organization or charity in the world.

He visits, makes speeches, presides over Mass for a few occasions. He's the Pope, not some out of control political ideologue.
Help the poor, realize we are all human beings, care for the planet. These are radical notions?
Pope Francis is saying a lot of things on a whole host of issues that need to be said. It's beyond refreshing.
I wish Wotty were here to see this. He'd love this guy. 🙁

Bingo!

Here it is the speech. It is pretty clear which person in the thread is dishonest.

Take them in where? The Vatican is 109 acres and is home to less than 500 people. Meanwhile the Catholic church is on the ground trying to provide aid. I can't believe this is even being used as a way to criticize him.

_________________________________________________________________________Directly from the speech where The Pope never says “income inequality”:
“How much progress has been made in this area in so many parts of the world! How much has been done in these first years of the third millennium to raise people out of extreme poverty! I know that you share my conviction that much more still needs to be done, and that in times of crisis and economic hardship a spirit of global solidarity must not be lost. At the same time I would encourage you to keep in mind all those people around us who are trapped in a cycle of poverty. They too need to be given hope. The fight against poverty and hunger must be fought constantly and on many fronts, especially in its causes. I know that many Americans today, as in the past, are working to deal with this problem.
It goes without saying that part of this great effort is the creation and distribution of wealth. The right use of natural resources, the proper application of technology and the harnessing of the spirit of enterprise are essential elements of an economy which seeks to be modern, inclusive and sustainable. “Business is a noble vocation, directed to producing wealth and improving the world. It can be a fruitful source of prosperity for the area in which it operates, especially if it sees the creation of jobs as an essential part of its service to the common good”
--- *** ---
Nowhere does Pope Francis mention the liberal’s rant about income redistribution. When The Pope refers to “raise people out of extreme poverty” the liberal’s reinterpret to mean income inequality which is not what The Pope said.
The Pope does talk about giving poor people an opportunity to share in the wealth and, in the end of this section, he talks about the creation of jobs which is exactly where The Obama administration and the Democrats have failed.
As The Pope said “all those people around us who are trapped in a cycle of poverty” he is talking about having a job and the dignity of a job; not about the government taking more from the working class and handing it out to the poor thus keeping them poor.
To understand what The Pope said your first need to take off your liberal filter glasses and read the actual words spoken.
