Yeah, I just heard that this morning, not sure what happened, besides they were not very good.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,
Didn't they just sign him to an extension?

The Lions are playing meaningful football in December. That qualifies as a semi successful season. Hoping they make the playoffs and win a playoff game.
Well, the Rams bleeped me last night.
Initially I took Seattle. Then Fisher got fired and the line moved.
So I took the Rams.
Every time I change my mind on a game I lose. Uncanny.

Today could be the coldest game in Soldier Field history for the Bears/Packers showdown.
Was offered free tix. You couldn't pay me to go to this.

"showdown"?
please
you'd go if the Patriots were playing
admit it. 😛 😛 😛
speaking of greatness, Pats looking to wrap up division (again) and a 1st rd. bye today v. Denver
gopats
Didn't want to use the word game twice in the same post.
Turned out to be a very good game. Even though I lost cuz the Packers didn't cover.
Went 1-7 today. So much for being in first place in my pool. Grr.

F*ck the Patriots. And while I am at it, toss the Red Sux in there as well. Might as well add the hockeyball and basketball teams in there too! 😛

Shoot, if I was in the area, I would have. Great game and the Bears STILL SUCK. Watching the game from a bar in south Florida wasn't so bad, I guess.
With everything else in the division coming up Milhouse (Detroit and Minnesota both lost, in addition to Tampa Bay) Green Bay just needs to win out against a spiraling Vikings team and, well, the Detroit Lions, who got easily pushed around by the Giants yesterday. I'm optimistic.
Washington played a dud of a game which puts Green Bay in the driver's seat. Win out, and they get the division. This season got really interesting.
Also, I've never cared about the AFC West much, but it's kind of fun watching the Broncos implode. And nice to see the Titans actually making the AFC South division competitive for a change. Meanwhile, the Jaguars finally fired their coach - will it ever be 1995 in Jacksonville again?

I am not sure if to many teams would want to face GB in the playoffs, they are getting hot and Rodgers is dangerous.
Rumors about Coughlin going back to Jacksonville.

Pretty desperate, like when the Redskins brought back Joe Gibbs, but it might turn around the attitude enough for him to hand the reigns over to the next coach. You hate to see a team completely uncompetitive for so long. It usually means there's a problem upstairs (see Browns, Bears).

I like Coughlin,I hope he succeeds if he does. If he does not go there ,how about Indy if they fire Chuck?!? 😉

Coughlin was a great coach; but the last year or two he was in NY he seemed to lose his edge and pulled more than his share of blunders
I've turned down free tix to the Bears at Soldier Field for the second week in a row. They are that bad. Nobody here wants to go.

News Flash !
The Cleveland Browns have won a football game.
Yes; but the Chargers are challenging the score. They claim that "points" are antiquated and that having more yards from scrimmage gives them "the popular vote"
Those Democrats.... 😛

Steelers suck. DB's can't tackle
They seem ok to me. Gotta enjoy winning the division and knocking the Ravens out of playoff contention in the same night.
Packers-Lions is flexed to Sunday night, since it's pretty much the only game that matters this weekend. what a season, Green Bay looked done after giving up TD bombs to the Redskins and dropping to 4-6. Now they might win the division, with thanks to Minnesota imploding and Detroit being, well, the Lions. Definitely nice to see the team tested if they do make it to the playoffs.
Too bad for Oakland and Tennessee both losing their QBs while having their best seasons in years, makes life easier for a few AFC teams.
That Lions-Packers game is going to be interesting. I tried to explain the whole situation to my wife. So the Lions can win tonight and lock in a playoff spot. They can lose to Dallas and still be okay. They can lose tonight, beat the Packers and still win the division. Crazy, huh?

Should have known better than to post that. Probably will miss the playoffs.

Well, the Lions have backed into the playoffs. I actually think they have a good chance against Seattle, so long as their egos aren't too bruised from Giants>Cowboys>Packers in a row. But they match up well against Seattle - if they can get through their shaky O-Line and get Wilson flustered, he'll start throwing picks. Either way, congrats on a solid season.
And thanks to the NY Giants for taking the Redskins out thereby taking the pressure off of the Lions and the Packers. Not that the Redskins ever looked amazing, but that's a pretty poor showing the last few weeks when things were on the line.
Speaking of the Giants, I like Green Bay's chances. In 2011, I knew the Giants would defeat us, even though we were 15-1. In 2011, The Packers had no defense and all the Giants needed to do was slow our offense down (which they did). I am more optimistic with this Packers team, they've been tested, and so long as the Giants don't rain down long bombs on our thing 2ndary (which they certainly are capable of) I think we'll be ok at home. Still, won't be a walk in the park, and the Giants have done it before.
Hard to get interested in the Raiders-Texans game now that both teams are starting their water boy at QB, that game is a toss up and neither would likely get past the 2nd round. But Pittsburgh is catching fire, should be able to handle Miami now that they are down a QB as well. I'm picking Packers, Lions, Steelers, Texans.

All that needs to said about last night Packers-Lions game is, mother bleeping Aaron Rodgers 🙁
Congrats to the Packers
Steelers will dispatch Fish in short order, then will come to Arrowhead and Le'Veon Bell will rush for 750 yards against Chiefs defense that has been severely compromised by the season ending injury to Derrick Johnson. Steelers lose to Pats in AFC title game.
Another Packer run has begun, but ultimately Jerry's Boys will take the NFC crown.
Super Bowl LI - Cowboys 34, Patriots 31
...as MacKenzie giggles at the thought.
for now.
The Raiders and Texans game should be a barn burner this weekend.
😛
Oakland was really handed a raw deal. Losing Carr now McGloin ,they will start the third string QB and the Texans have Osweiler.

It's a bummer, I always want to see the best teams compete in the playoffs, but Carr's injury really thins out the herd in the AFC (no one is afraid of KC). Plus, with the tenuousness of the Raiders in Oakland, it would be nice to see them get a home playoff game before they have to drive to Vegas in their Darth Vader outfits.

Quarterback Cecil Isbell of the Green Bay Packers is stopped by New York Giants' Frank Cope in NFL title game, Dec. 11, 1939. The Packers won, 27-0, before a crowd of 32,000.
As the 2 teams who have met the most in NFL Championships, here is a great write-up on the Packers-Giants Championship Game History:
Here's a real nugget:
Nov. 24, 1929 (Packers 20, Giants 6 at New York’s Polo Grounds) New York had a population of nearly 7 million; Green Bay, roughly 37,000. The Giants used 19 players; the Packers, 12. Ten of the Packers’ starters played the entire 60 minutes; the other, Jim Bowdoin, played 59 minutes before being removed for a sub.

I agree, I want the best out there and anything to help stop the Pats too.
I guess Tannehill is out against Pitt.

In other news, Pagano is coming back to Indy. With Tennessee and Houston actually playing well (sort of) lately, 2017 has to be a win or your fired year.
I also realized why I want the Lions to defeat Seattle (other than the Lions could use the playoff win, and I hate the Seahawks). If the Packers and both Lions win, the Lions will go to Dallas on Sunday, and the Packers will go to Atlanta on Saturday (Atlanta is definitely a worse team than Dallas - their defense is awful). Not to get ahead of myself, the Packers do have a tough game they have to win first this weekend against the Giants, but if Seattle and the Packers win this weekend, the Packers will go to Dallas (where I think we can win) but I have Sunshine Music Fest-Boca tickets that day! Leave it to a Jaguars fan to schedule a music fest on an NFL playoff day in January when his team will absolutely be home on the couch!
