porkchopbob - are you a Packers fan? If so, congrats. Speaking as a die hard Cowboys fan...and as one who did not utter a single f-bomb during the entire game (although there may have been a few other choice words used at times)...hats off to Aaron and the Packers. Incredible run that the Packers are on, and I agree with all the praise being heaped upon Rodgers.

Yeah, big Packers fan. That was a great game, Dallas had a great season and they will no doubt be in good hands with Dak Prescott in the next few years. Romo has been solid the last decade, but Dak is definitely an upgrade if he can keep it going.

And the Cowboys fan at the bar was actually pretty entertaining, sporting a Deion Sanders jersey to boot. I think he had had a few before he got there, and didn't expect to be surrounded by Packers fans (and a good number of Giants fans, naturally) in a south Florida bar.

Haha..."Prime Time"!!...we sure could have used Deion last night! Our D is definitely the weak link. Hopefully we can work on that in the off season. Although I really believe it was coaching more than anything...our defensive scheme was way too conservative in the 1st half. Did Rodgers even break a sweat on that 21-3 run? Once we started bringing pressure, the whole game changed, but by that time we were already in a huge hole. And then the decision at the end of the game to spike the ball on first down rather than using that down to take another shot down the field, which also stopped the clock. Not smart. But when it was all said and done, we just needed our D to make one more stop...just one more...but they couldn't get it done. Amazing game. But my nerves were shot at the end of it...

😉

The Cowboys and the Texans, since the inflated prices were due to those teams potentially playing close to or in their home market for the Super Bowl.

Still no way in hell I would ever pay that much for a ticket, even if my favorite team was in the game.

Agree. The best seat in the stadium is the one in my living room. I care absolutely nothing about going and seeing it, or any other game for that matter. And especially if my team is in it. When my team makes it back to another Super Bowl, the last place I want to be is surrounded by thousands of people...I prefer to savor the moment in complete solitude and in the comfort of my home. 😉

If I had endless disposable income, it would be fun to go see the Packers in a Super Bowl. But as big of a fan as I am, I can't imagine ever dropping that much money on flights, tickets, hotels, food, etc, when I'd be just as content ordering a pizza and wings and watching at home where the beer is much cheaper. I've seen 3 or 4 games at Lambeau, it really doesn't get better than that.

1 - I can't remember seeing two games so exciting on the same do so late in the playoffs

2 - re: ticket prices of course it is patently insane. But the experience (in my mind) is all about the journey with people close to you. My dad was a rabid SF Giant fan. Unfortunately he died prior to the 2002 WS (I was 6 in 1962 and didn't go) - but as a kid he made an open ended promise that if the Giants ever made the WS. Many a late night listening to the games on radio prior to cable. Would have been special

And to top it off my wife wouldn't let my son and me fly to London for the Cream reunion (all because he had the SAT's)

My wife and I went to Super Bowl in Indy when it was the Giants and Patriots. It was her Christmas present. She is a huge sports fan, bigger than me. I made this 3 ring binder with pictures of QBs who were in the playoffs, a picture of her and I, then a picture of Lucas Oil Stadium followed by a picture of a super bowl trophy. Other than when I gave her the engagement ring it was the most emotional gift I've given her, for both of us.

It was the first year that the NFL was doing that NFL on Location ticket package. I came across it by accident online when trying to figure out how to go to the game. Now they run NFL on Location ads. I don't recall the exact price, I know it was not 5 figures, it was upper 4 figures. We drove to Indy from Ohio and the hotel was part of the package, but not close to the stadium, which made it cheaper, we had to drive in and out 20 minutes or so each day.

The way that the ticket prices got towards the end of ABB at the Beacon, with flying to NYC, going to multiple shows with a pair of tickets and a lengthy hotel stay in Manhattan and everything that goes into a trip like that, the Super Bowl wasn't really that much more when we went.

We got to go down on the field afterwards as part of the package. Before the game we were able to go to a pregame party sponsored by the NFL. My wife got to meet some players and she made a fool out of herself. Told Doug Flutie "I love watching you" (of course he hasnt played in many years), told Pierre Garcon that she "drafted him on her fantasy team". She hugged Josh Cribbs. She is literally like a sports groupie...without the sex part (I think :P)

It really was an experience of a lifetime.

The game was very corporate feeling. Alot of fans in jerseys, but maybe just as many people in sports jackets. A souvenir tub of popcorn was $20. We still use the tub.

So the Packers are getting four.

Pittsburgh is getting six.

I took both underdogs but I am not too confident in either one.

Agreed. I never thought these games would be blow outs. Bummed that the Packers finally ran out of miracles, but these playoff games were total gravy after starting 4-6. The injuries finally caught up with them, their secondary was all in a M*A*S*H unit. Still, there were some amazing moments and hopefully next season they will be able to build on it.

So the young teams beat the old teams. New England's run continues to be amazing. Atlanta has certainly surprised me, their defense has gotten a lot better. Dan Quinn seems to have brought the same mojo he developed in Seattle with him. Atlanta and New England both blew out good but injury-depleted teams, the Super Bowl will hopefully be a better match up.

I want to go on record as not liking this thing where defenders try to rip the ball out of the ball carriers hands instead of just tackling him.

I know it is not a new thing, but there was a time when it didn't exist.

I don't like it.

Well, there is one game left, but the ABB pool winners are set - one game doesn't change the outcome.

ABB Spread pool

Where's My Mule? 139-102
Leglizhemp 128-113
Sang 121-124
Ninety-Nine and a half 119-125
Pacific North West 115-126
danb 108-135
Steel Curtain 84-157

ABB Straight Up pool

Leglizhemp 164-84
Sangsters of the Midway 161-89
Lockett the Rocket 159-89
danb 155-95
Ninety-Nine and a half 144-104

Thanks to all for playing, and congrats to Lee and Leglizhemp......

The best part was beating nebish and danb in both pools....... Grin

Thanks Hemp. Can't believe I did so well but I also won the pool I am in for $$$ so that was even more important than beating Sang. 😉

It sounds like the consensus from the sports media that New England will win . The Pats have a good defense, but I don't think they really have been tested this season against an offense like the Falcons. I would not underestimate them to much.
I just hope its a good game.

I will bypass the halftime entertainment and drop the needle on a long extended ABB jam!!!
