Excellent idea whose time has come. Candidate Trump is the only one who can make this happen because he is not bought and paid for.

Isn't this something that has to be initiated by the legislative branch; not the executive branch. So the ones who would have to initiate & vote on it are the ones limiting their own gravy train.

I agree with term limits, but this idea is nothing new, and it probably won't get any marginal votes. If Trump brings it up tomorrow night, he'll breeze by it quickly and instead go on personal & political attacks on his favorite target, Crooked Hillary. Ya like that terminology, goob?

This could have been a great plank in his platform early on but lets see if he can convince people tired of career politicians that it needs to be done but it will be difficult getting it voted on.

Even if he gets elected, which he won't be, how exactly can he get this done. This can't be gone by executive order, it has to be voted on by congress. Not sure if you've been paying attention, but a pretty huge chunk of Republican congressmen hate Trump as much as the Democrats do. Trump's plan is dead on arrival.

Legislation can certainly be initiated by the executive branch, as often happens. However, it takes at least one member of Congress to sponsor any bill the executive branch wants to put forward in order to start the legislative process.

In any case, this is the first issue that I have been able to agree with Trump on, congressional terms limits is an idea who's time has come. There were some serious attempts to impose term limits on federal legislators in the early/mid-90s which was led by republicans (including an attempt to pass a constitutional amendment establishing term limits, which won a majority when voted on but needed 2/3rds) but it eventually fizzled out. There are 15 states that currently have term limits for their state legislators (and 6 more that had them but were repealed) so in theory it can be done.

Why do we need term limits? If someone is doing a good job, let them stay there, if not vote out the incumbent. What we need is integrity in the election voting machines. Those Diebold machines were shown to be able to be rigged, so why are we still casting electronic ballots?
