She seems to think she's entitled to that job. The position became available when her mother retired after 37 YEARS and KD had worked there 17 years when she ran. Her opponent ran an anti-nepotism campaign (mother, daughter, grandson) and still lost. He lost by only 4%.

And couples who have had pre-marital sex, couples where one or the other has been divorced, Jewish couples, Muslim couples, agnostic couples, atheist couples, anyone who has ever coveted his neighbor's ox or donkey...the list goes on and on. part of being a Christian is NOT being self-righteous. In fact, the opposite of self-righteousness. This woman took it upon herself to bear a cross she had no business dealing with. She doesn't have to quit or find another job but she should be doing what she was elected to do. If she knew her Bible, we're told to respect, honor and obey the authority and live by the laws those in authority implement. She's way out of step with biblical teaching.

My last comment on this - I think ... I BELIEVE that this gal is being propped up by her church or local league of churches.
If you're familiar with the show, "Orange is the New Black" - there's a character who is in prison for killing an abortion doctor for giving her a hard time for having had multiple abortions and insinuating that she was some sort of "trailer trash". An anti-abortion group picked up on the story and began to back her financially - making out that her killing of an abortion doctor was a religious statement.
I'm just not sure that Davis has the level of piety that she pretends to have. She went to jail - she (or the church(es)) made her/their statement. At best, I think she is some sort of accidental martyr.

We're deep into WP territory now, but the problem all along is that she can't be dealt with promptly. Impeachment proceedings wouldn't start until January when the KY legislature returns to session. The governor has no power over her. I don't think the judge can cite her for contempt again because contempt is supposed to be a persuasive/coercion tool and not a punitive one. The only one who could charge her with anything would be the US Attorney for that area.
I wonder if she plans tol fire all the employees except her son who isn't willing to issue licenses and no one could stop her.
Back at work, still getting paid/benefitted by the taxpayers, hanging out in a self-created loophole.

Other than making a fool of herself, Davis speeded up the timing for licenses to be issued for all eligible couples in Rowan County. Her delusion that her auto-penned signature carries anything more than an acknowledgement that all county requirements for a license have been met indicates how egotistical she is. As Rusty said ages ago, she's a CLERK. She files documents and follows a checklist to issue them.
She stated that she's not going to interfere w/any deputy clerks who issue a license based on the county checklist of requirements. I think she foresaw real jail time in the future and caved.
