Monday, 10/26: Man walks into Santa Clara County Main Jail with a note disclosing the whereabouts of the body of his former girlfriend. Deputy Sheriff tells him it is not in their jurisdiction and tells him to go to the police station. Man leaves jail and miraculously, walks to police station unaccompanied and confesses.
Is anyone else as in shock as I am?

Sounds like the person he talked to that sent him away wasn't the brightest bulb in the box to begin with...
OR...
After finding no active warrants for him, the staffer spoke with a correctional deputy, who asked Castro what he wanted to turn himself in for, prompting Castro to request a more private conversation, according to the statement.
At one point, Castro reportedly passed the civilian staffer a note stating there was a dead body at an address on Third Street. Eventually, the deputy told Castro to report the body to SJPD.
The deputy was just bein' lazy and didn't want to deal with it.
