The current administration is attempting to deal with this impending threat by allotting $335 million for a flood protection system for the Lower East Side, $100 million for upgrades to the shorelines in Coney Island and Staten Island, building levees in Staten Island and dunes in Breezy Point, adding 4.15 million cubic feet of sand to city beaches, and coating buildings with reflective paint to absorb less heat.

Remarks: If you like flooding, horrible weather, heat waves no problem. Otherwise, realize that 2020 is just 5 years away. Any hurricanes or storm surges will flood out swaths of land, eventually (more years later) just inundate and reclaim the land. As the ocean rises here, it rises other places also, other port cities, Boston etc. will also face these problems.

What, did Al Gore put out another fake documentary?

BTW - the upgrade noted above are the result of NY finally getting around to the hurricane surge prevention measures that have been put off for years.

Climate change is a hoax and the figment of the Liberals scientific communities imagination Gina just ask any Conservative. 😛

Funny you bring this up as my 9 and 11 year old daughters are learning about this now and last night were worried that our house, 60 miles west of Boston, would eventually be under water. I had to reassure them we were not at risk where we live and the fact we live on the side of large hill. I told them to look at the bright side we will be a lot closer to the beach eventually. Grin

Maybe even beachfront property. Then you will have to thank climate change deniers for the huge increase in your property value. Also the increase in your property taxes. Grin

Predicting the future is a rough business. Hasn't worked out so good for the alarmists.

I read some of the reports. Links:

One thing I do know is the power elite want the arctic opened up for the oil it has, so if they have to help melt those ice sheets to open up the shipping lanes, they will. There is too much money for them not to.

There are people who saw prophecies of how the lands would change with the sea level rises, with the tectonic plates causing it, and those concepts and maps seemed almost un-imaginable, but as time goes on, little by little, we can see some of them coming to pass. 2020 is five years away, usually the ocean rises 1 inch per year, yet they think it will be accelerated to the extent it could be 10 inches higher in 5 years. That is double what happened since the 1900's.

The other point is, the sea levels rising are due to glacial melt, which decreases the salinity of the oceans, which effects our weather giving us worse storms, more storms. It can even lead to superstorms, as described by Whitley Streiber in "The Global Superstorm" which will be a large level extinction event for millions of people. It is not fictional, it is factual, it will happen, the only question is when. Parts of that are happening now all these storms from the arctic and the Jet Stream dipping so low down is part of that phenomenon , when the North Atlantic Current collapses the warm water will no longer go north and countries will see their people freeze to death as the infrastructures fail etc.
