Isis Claims Responsibility for Florida Nightclub Shooting
An Isis member went to a nightclub that was a known gathering place for homosexuals and opened fire with his rifle killing fifty people. ISIS has officially claimed responsibility for the attack.
CAIRO: ISIS' Amaq news agency said on Sunday that the Islamist militant group was responsible for the shooting that killed at least 50 people in a massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
"The armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter," Amaq said.
Mateen who was not thought to be overly religious, but there were prior incidents where he saw homosexual behavior and was opposed to it. He met his wife in New York According to the wife's account the pair had met in New York but in March 2009 had moved in together in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Bullsh*t. He was just a nut with guns. And most likely lots of guilt over his homosexual urges.
Horrendous, and sadly, not just a European problem as certain sanctimonious ex posters on here have stated many times.. 🙁
When I read that the shooter was an Afghan, I know I will have to say something. Particularly because his Father likes the Afghan Taliban. [ohhhh boy]
Seddique Mateen, who has been referred to as Mir Seddique in early news reports, hosted the “Durand Jirga Show” on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, which broadcasts from California. In one video, Mateen expresses gratitude toward the Afghan Taliban, while denouncing the Pakistani government.
“Our brothers in Waziristan, our warrior brothers in [the] Taliban movement and national Afghan Taliban are rising up,” he said. “Inshallah the Durand Line issue will be solved soon.”
The “Durand Line issue” is a historically significant one, particularly for members of the Pashtun ethnic group, whose homeland straddles the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Durand Line is that border. It is not clear whether the Mateens are Pashtun. The Afghan Taliban is mostly made up of Pashtuns.
The line was drawn as a demarcation of British and Afghan spheres of influence in 1893. The British controlled most of subcontinental Asia at the time, though some parts, including what is now Afghanistan and northwest Pakistan, were only loosely held. The line was inherited as a border by Pakistan after its independence. Since it splits the Pashtun population politically, it is seen as a cause for their marginalization. Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in most of eastern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan.
The most recent video on Mateen’s YouTube channel shows him declaring his candidacy for the Afghan presidency. The timing of the video is strange, as it came a year after presidential elections were held in Afghanistan. Mateen appears incoherent at times in the video, and he jumps abruptly from topic to topic. His use of Dari, instead of Pashto, the language of Pashtuns, was another strange element of his presentation.
On Sunday morning, Mateen told NBC News that his son’s rampage “has nothing to do with religion.” Instead, he offered another possible motive. He said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a few months ago. He said his son was especially enraged because the kissing took place in front of his own young son.
REMARKS: I'm going to nip this right in the bud. 'The brothers in Waziristan' refers to the Tehrik I Taliban, or Pakistani Taliban (formerly under the guidance and leadership of Nek Mohammad, Baitullah Mehsud, Hakimullah Mehsud. They aligned themselves ideologically originally with Al Qa'ida, then with Isis. The AFGHAN Taliban did NOT align themselves with al Qaida, Tehrik I Taliban, OR Isis.
Naturally, as a native Afghan, Mateen's Father would like to see the sovereignty of his native land. There are many who these days are not happy with the Pakistani govt., including Imran Khan who has a political movement calling for major reforms in Pakistan. The media tends to get very worried anytime there is any link to places like Afghanistan or Pakistan, so it is important to understand. Mateen's son, acted on his own, out of his own beliefs. The usual people with the paranoia will jump on their bandwagons, but I think this is an isolated incident.
I do not think Isis sent him here. I think he embraced Isis's views and that influenced the actions he took. The Afghan Taliban would NEVER advocate, or condone an attack on civilians. That is not their way. The Pakistani Taliban, the brothers in Waziristan basically fight within their own borders.
CLOSING REMARKS:
My belief is that God gave everyone FREE WILL. He also sent down messengers with guidance as well as his laws. Those who violate his laws do so under their own free will, but everyone must be allowed to choose how they live. Including the transgressors. If someone is living in a place rife with sin, they should leave that place because God will eventually destroy the towns, villages, cities, countries that allow the sin to flourish. God has done this throughout history and civilizations, he does not need our help in doing that. He uses the wind, water, fire, earthquakes to destroy areas. He does not need nukes to accomplish utter destruction as he did upon the peoples of Sodom and Gomorrah, or Ad and Thamud and every other place whose people he has punished.

Comments.
Gina continues to be the most offensive moron on this site ( no small bar I might add ) which would be such a better place if she never posted here again. But alas.
No one gives a crap, Gina. All your cut and paste crap is disrespectful to the victims and their families.
Who cares what these nuts believe or why they do what they do? Who their father is or what he believes? No one here.
He was a nut who craved co*k and couldn't handle the guilt. Stuff all the Islamic crap up your a**.
This has nothing to do with God or religion. Just a piece of sh*t with guns.
Gina, you are offensive. Please go away.
So you guys see this as a gun issue, where we are just one more gun law away from solving this and living in harmony with isis and not a radical islam terrorist attack.
With Donald Trump out all over the place empowering violence, no wonder this happened. Don't blame ISIS, Trump made this guy do it.

Thanks for your input, troll. That ranks right up there with gina's crap.
Never been a big fan of guns, but gotta say the way all these random atrocities keeps happening, I sure wouldn't mind having a concealed weapon when the sh*t hits the fan. It seems like it is happening so much now that the chances are pretty high it will hit close to home. People are just going nuts.

Don't see a single post that states any of that.
No one mentioned gun laws in any way except you.
Is it a gun issue? No of course not, he went there with a sling shot. Get real.
And this has nothing to do with Isis or some planned terrorist attack. Just a mentally disturbed nut with.............guns.
Tragic. Even more so if you turn it into some sort of right vs left debate. People are dead. Set the political bullsh*t aside. The lack of compassion around here is mind blowing at times.
So you guys see this as a gun issue, where we are just one more gun law away from solving this and living in harmony with isis and not a radical islam terrorist attack.
I see it as a homophobia issue, myself. The situation regarding guns is never going to change regardless of whatever happens today, tomorrow or anywhere in the future.
Last year, there were:
372 mass shootings, killing 475
13,286 people total killed by a firearm
We've accepted as a society dying as the result of gunfire. I don't know what amount of those killed last year were victims due to the shooter's affiliation with radical Islamic beliefs, that's probably the best indicator of the size of that particular danger.

Did you really just post that? Honestly - do you guys have an off switch with this right vs left bullsh*t? Show some fuc*ing respect for a change.
Truth. I must say that these things don't hit me anywhere near as hard as they used to. I used to go into shock when the postal stuff happened, or war footage smeared across the screen, but when it is in the headlines every day I get numb to it.

Sad state of affairs when those feelings become common place. Judging from some of the responses here, I hope that is some peoples' excuse and not that they have absolutely no class.
No excuse. People lash out because they feel threatened. This stuff is killing us all, and we are turning on each other.
I agree. Truly a sad state of affairs. I'm not totally numb, but it is a crappy feeling not having the soul I once had.
And by the way, it looks like the proper use of the plural possessive apostrophe has not been forgotten in Canada. Very cool! In the USA the apostrophe is dead and gone.

So you're now trying to class Alloak41 as a troll. You're starting to sound a lot like Otie.
alloak isn't a troll, he's a cool cat. One of the few around here who ever said something kind when I was literally tied to the whipping post, living every line of the song. Trolls are sociopathic, mean, insulting, and incapable of decency or compassion. Which does describe most Whipping Posters at times, but we are really just a bunch of teddy bears at heart.

True, we all get those tendencies once in a while, but it seems lately that several people are quick to label other posters as trolls, even ones that have been here a long time.
They remind me of a past poster, a security guard from some Las Vegas spot, that called anybody not in his "clique" a troll and tried to get them banned even if they were brand new to the site.

You don't think he was trolling for a reaction? There was no reason to bring up Trump in this thread. Fine. We disagree.

Obama Warned Two Weeks Ago That Something Like The Orlando Shooting Could Happen
“I cannot prohibit those people from buying a gun,” the president said.
Less than two weeks ago, President Barack Obama highlighted the potential for a tragedy like the Orlando shooting to happen, saying the FBI often knows about sympathizers of the self-described Islamic State — but can’t limit access to firearms due to contentious gun laws in America.
Speaking at a town hall meeting hosted by PBS News Hour on June 3, Obama was asked by an audience member why both his administration and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton “want to control and restrict and limit gun manufacturers [and] gun owners.”
The president responded to the common line of questioning with a pointed attack against the National Rifle Association. The group’s vehement opposition to restrictions on even the heaviest weaponry available has allowed people on the no-fly list to buy guns.
“I just came from a meeting today in the situation room, in which I’ve got people who we know have been on ISIL websites, living here in the United States, U.S. citizens,” Obama said at the town hall, using another name for the Islamic State group. “And we’re allowed to put them on the no-fly list when it comes to airlines, but because of the National Rifle Association, I cannot prohibit those people from buying a gun.”
“This is somebody who is a known ISIL sympathizer, and if he wants to walk into a gun store or a gun show right now and buy as many weapons and ammunition as he can, nothing’s prohibiting him from doing that even though the FBI knows who he is,” the president said.
The scenario Obama described as a possibility has now come true. Omar Mateen, 29, bought a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun less than a week before he killed around 50 people at a gay nightclub in Florida. Mateen had been investigated by the FBI twice — once in 2013 and again in 2014 — but was still legally allowed to obtain the weapons.
Mateen had called 911 on Sunday to say he was affiliated with the Islamic State, although U.S. officials have said there isn’t any evidence he actually has a direct link to the terrorist group.
The New York Daily News also lambasted the NRA in its Monday cover story of the shooting. The outlet posted a headline reading “THANKS NRA” alongside images of the paper’s other pointed front pages from past mass shootings.
Despite the president’s call for “common sense” gun control, there have been 133 mass U.S. shootings in the 164 days of 2016. The event in Orlando was the deadliest such attack in U.S. history.
I listened to this entire speech at the Townhall. It was almost as if Obama was speaking directly about this exact shooter and shooting. The NRA and extreme right bears some responsibility for allowing ISIL sympathizers to buy guns.

Trump has an opinion it.

This has nothing to do with God or religion. Just a piece of sh*t with guns.
When Jesus returns will you care what HE thinks? No you will think he is an extremist. He was rather opinionated on some issues and would not budge just to be politically correct. He too was opposed to homosexuality according to the Jews, and the Christians (as his disciples recounted his words in the Bible), and also the Muslims. He didn't change his ideas to please the public who were under secular law.
This person who did the attack went to the nightclub for the express purpose of killing as many as possible according to reports. He went with his AR-15 as well as a handgun. His religious beliefs led him to take the actions that he took because he felt that was correct jihad for him to do. It was noted that when he saw two homosexuals kissing in public about a month before he became enraged, apparently to the point that when he learned about the nightclub, which promoted that behavior, he decided to go there and take as many lives as possible.
To characterize him as just a nut with a gun is incorrect. A nut has no identifiable reason for what they do. He planned and carried it out based on his religious beliefs that could not tolerate homosexual oriented people drinking, dancing etc. Those were the reasons he killed them. He had a reason, he did not just react in an off the cuff manor.
I do however think it is interesting idea that some have considered it a planned mercenary attack, perhaps to further the agenda of disarming Americans. I had not considered that.
