Is it just me, or is this lowest level of interest ever for a Beacon run?

Glad there is a WPost forum to discuss unpopular topics because I pretty shocked by the lack of excitement around here. I expected/hoped this final run would generate some streams, setlist threads and bring back some old faces but damn! This place is just dead. Also disappointed and surprised there is no live stream of these shows.

Last night was the first time ever, no one did a play by play/updates for a Beacon show. Yes, someone eventually posted sets after they were over, and thank you very much for that, but nothing like previous runs.

Is anyone else as surprised as I am that this run has generated so little activity here?

Alot of the buzz has transferred to other places. Twitter had plenty of Allman stuff all day today as well as last night and facebook of course as well. And no I have neither a twitter or facebook account but know how to follow stuff on them.

Alan Paul has lots of stuff on his facebook link which you do not need an account to follow. He just showed that Farmer's chair is still on the stage as a tribute to him and someone else pointed out Warren has picks with 1961-2014 on one side and dammitfarmer on the other.

I would agree with the lack of "buzz" here. There is some in the number of 'new' threads that come up, but in terms of live chat style posting I would also have to agree that other outlets like facebook and twitter maybe have absorbed all the action that used to be found here.

I don't do any of those other things like facebook or twitter. Really the lack of activity on the site for during a Beacon run is just a continuation of the lack of activity overall for the site tapering off.

Knowing this is the end makes me feel like there is a colossal party at the end of the block, and I wasn't invited. 🙁

Look at the set-lists so far

surprised there is no live stream of these shows.

ABB does not allow live streaming (legally anyway), nor electronic trading.

I imagine the discouragement of fans being shut out of pre-sales and general sales may have something to do with this.It has been tough the last couple of years to get reasonably priced tickets.
I have never seen Twitter and don't use Facebook but I guess there has been a migration to those places as well.

Yawn......

They are just honouring their ticket sales and contract. You think they would be at Beacon in October if they didn't have to cancel their shows last March?

Don't be sad we just refuse to accept that they are retiring, and once they do retire, they will re-form, re-group and be back, just a matter of time. The synergy they have with ABB cannot be found in any other configuration.

All I know is I had a grate time at my final ABB show last night and I don't give two craps if there aren't five new threads about it.

This site has been losing folks since facebook became so popular.

Can't say as I blame folks, fb is real time, no waiting hours or days for responses.

Great points Ron.

Glad you enjoyed the show.

Thanks for posting that because just last night I was seriously thinking of starting a thread saying the exact same thing that you just did.

I think it has more to do with the loss of regular posters here.

Lots of folks are gone from here and haven't been back.

As for Wed. show, it was one of the best I've seen a quite awhile.

I think you all make valid points. I'm definitely one of those Facebook people. Only so many hours in the day to get social online...

Headed to tonight's show with AngelEmerald and her boyfriend. Very psyched!

Not only low interest in the Beacon run, but news of their last show was reported in the Macon Telegraph as a small photo and one paragraph.

45 years old; and with a small but fanatical fan base. Band has toured less recently; there are many other forms of social media. Ending on a high note after a year or two (or more) of continuous health issues and uncertainty. Seems about right to me. We are cult members - who think cause we are committed there are many more followers out there. How many people who actively post here got last minute tickets for one of the final shows? It says a lot about our cult status. If there were tons of others interested that wouldn't have happened

As in...one would have to get off facebook in order to actually attend a concert?! 😛 😉

Yes; or to talk about one. Or to not be on their cellphone during one
