Robert Newhouse #44

This is a typical Robert Newhouse photo IMO, as appears to be fighting for every extra yard possible. He was that type of player. When I think of Newhouse, I think of the one I first saw in college playing for University of Houston. He was a solid pro, but in college he was something else.

Houston ran the Veer with Robert as the trailing pitch back, but they also ran a lot of dives and counters. Newhouse would break through the line and carry tacklers on his back into the secondary. It usually took three or four guys to get him on the ground. He gained 1,797 yards as a Senior and almost won the Heisman.

There was a funny story in the Birmingham News about 2 years ago - an interview with Coach Bryant's personal haberdasher at the time. The guy says that he found (or made - I forget) the original houndstooth hat for Bryant as part of an ensemble (jacket, pants etc). Bryant liked the hat so much that he started wearing it with everything! The guy told of how he had to approach the coach and explain to him that the pattern clashed with the various stripes, plaids and other colors the coach liked to wear. Bear Bryant is known for the houndstooth hat, but he did (eventually) wear other patterns.

In honor of Veteran's Day. Thank you to veterans here, there and everywhere for preserving our American way of life which, among many other much more important things, allows us to blow off steam arguing politics, sports, etc. on our favorite band's website.

I admire my grandmother. A good christian woman and a beautiful person. I always think when I have tough times in my life or things arent going good..how would my grandma handle it?
A great role model for me , and I always try and reach to that level.

Cool cool cool -- tried cutting & pasting a photo of my old hero Rocky Colavito, am useless around computers tho
Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson 1 time rode a mule (CharlieO 😮 ) -- around the field when he played in KC -- bareback too, & he was bucking & everything -- 1 of Charlie Finley's brainstorms 😮 - 4 some reason that's what the Uek pic reminds me of -- it's a great one, he's hanging on for dear life w/a death grip around CharlieO's neck & stuff
Great ones, thanks alloak41!

I Loved Rocky!
1 complaint tho alloak
u come up short bro
...He Ain't In His Indians Uniform! 😮 😛 😛

Rocky was all the shit in Cleve -- then he was traded to Det. for Harvey Kuenn (59 mayb?) -- longtime bradcaster Ken Coleman in his book recalled the big furor/uproar among fans, who called into radio stations protesting etc
but that was Rocky -- sorta had that Tony C charisma
but he did come back to Cleveland & that's when I remember him -- he & DaddyWags (Leon Wagner), great 1-2 punch -- 3B Max Alvis, Yankee killer/1B Fred Whitfield ec...

so thanks man -- but next time, in Cleve uni, 2nd stint please... 😮 😛

Guessing yagotta have a PhotoBucket account of some sort to post photos?
I kno I kno -- "No Stephen you gotta join the 21st century..."(hehe) 😛 -- or at least learn computer basics "lol"

Gotta mention Lou too -- the lucky fucker, he stuck out his glove blinded by the sun in RF Oct 1978 -- & caught the ball Mad hehe -- the pics rock bro
