Wondering how everybody feels about this. Sure, Georgia just passed a law saying that this was perfectly legal. So, for those that think this is a good idea and a good law, would you feel the same way if it was a group of Muslims carrying AR-15 rifles around the Atlanta airport?

Great, just what we need. More guns! Maybe this guy isn't concerned, but is there anyone among us who wouldn't turn their head or be concerned at all about seeing a guy carrying a rifle in a major metro airport? What if that person was wearing a hijab or burqa or thobe or ghutra or other traditional Islamic garb?

I'm sure this guy in LA was not carrying his rifle in a menacing or threatening manner either, right up until he opened fire...

But for the life of me I don't understand why people insist on carrying them practically anywhere they go. I just don't get it.

Wyatt Earp didn't allow guns in Tombstone. ok didn't work out that well but....eventually it did.

As a fellow gun owner and hunter, I agree with you 100%.

I've never felt the need to take my AR to the grocery store.

So you can carry a loaded AR-15 semi into any public facility ... but if you get caught tokin' on a doobie they'll haul you off to jail. This is all phucked up, folks.

We are a Christian establishment,” co-owner Crystal O’Connor told local news outlet WBND-TV Tuesday evening. No one went in and actually asked them to do it, it was a hyptherical. Unnecessarily calling attention to themselves was a good move financially though with almost a million bucks generated via GoFundMe. Wonder how many years they would have had to operate to generate that amount of income?

Apparently, it's perfectly legal for a turban wearing Muslim to carry around a gun in the Atlanta airport while wearing a death to America t-shirt. That my friend is both the 1st and 2nd Amendments working for you. That is guns making America a safer place. But hey, we can thank all those legislatures bought and paid for by the NRA for this stupid law. God bless 'Murica

It is Georgia State Law, not the 1st or 2nd Amendment that allows Mr. Cooley to carry a gun into the Atlanta Airport, along with fact that he probably also possesses a concealed weapons permit.

If a turban wearing Muslim obtained a concealed weapons permit for the State of Georgia and complied with all other regulations in that locale, they too could do the same, it is not perfectly legal - as you say - until that time.

Like Mr. Cooley's comments in the articles say, other peoples fears are not his problem and that if people are concerned, they need to be more educated on the laws.

I for one would never do what this man did, but he is obviously trying to make a point about being legal and DOING NOTHING WRONG.

What does irk me is that with this issue or any others, is that you or anyone "assumes" they know what is best for any other part of the country. How do you know what the people of Georgia want in their laws? And if you say you are from Georgia, then why aren't you campaigning to have the law changed?

Asa far as I can tell, Georgia does not require a carry permit nor a Georgia Weapons Permit to carry a long gun.

I don't think he needed a concealed weapon permit as it was open carry. So any moron or mentally disturbed person can do the same. I'm not a Georgia resident, but I fly to Atlanta once a year, and sometimes I have other flights that connect there. So, as a non-resident I can't exactly vote in this matter, but as a user of that airport I think I have every right to be concerned, as apparently other users in that airport were. Of course I have the right to avoid Georgia altogether and no longer spend a couple thousand of my tourist dollars there every year. Some people who have to do so for business might not have that choice unless they find another job. But, it's just a matter time until some person not carrying a weapon in a threatening manner changes that in a blink of an eye and opens fire at a Delta Airlines counter (ok, I can't blame them for that - f you Delta Airlines), and people will start to wonder what hell they were thinking with such a dumb law.

Reminds me of the time I staggered into a movie obviously drunk after a day of tree thinning carrying a 30 inch Stihl. Olympia Washington mid 1980's, nobody gave it a second glance. My how times have changed.
