Fantasy Sports Gambling

I don't know if anyone here plays but if you do you may find this interesting.

I don't play but the commercials are really annoying. They are on 100's of times a day .. they must be raking in a lot of money. I also don't care for the scrolling of statistics along the bottom of a screen when I'm trying to watch a game. Who cares how many catches some receiver has in another game?

Oh man, the worst is sitting next to some fantasy dweeb at a bar and hear him cheering on one team, while he cheers every time the opposing running back gains 10 yards because he's on the dude's fantasy team. I don't really understand it, but then again, I'm a Packers fan, so I don't really have to fantasize about sports.
I guess theses leagues are striking while its hot and thus advertising every 10 seconds (it took me a while before I realized there were different sites advertising to me) but I don't get how it is legal for them to even advertise this kind of online gambling on television.

If money is involved,it will be/is HUGE.
I dont get into all the fantasy stuff with sports..it's fantasy. I like to deal with the reality of the team I am a fan of.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Not that's funny!
Since I've moved to Redskin territory I've been living in a fantasy.

Be careful - moving from Packerland to Redskin territory is what killed Vince Lombardi.

Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys and Robert K. Kraft of the New England Patriots have stakes in DraftKings, which recently struck a three-year deal with the N.F.L. to become a partner of the league’s International Series in Britain, where sports betting is legal. In addition, DraftKings has tapped hundreds of millions of dollars from Fox Sports, and FanDuel has raised similar amounts from investors like Comcast, NBC and KKR.
So there you go. The two most powerful owners in the league that can do whatever they want. Follow the money.

Loophole. Fantasy sports is considered a game of skill. Legally, gambling consists of games of chance.
Assess the performance of individual entities in a competition and place a bet accordingly, with tiered levels of payouts. Sounds like horse racing to me...

I read that most of the money is won by 1.5% of the bettors - so people with highly sophisticated computer models beat most people that just pick and buy into these commercials.......

I believe it. I've done OK on the baseball side, but won't go near the NFL contests any more. After you play for a while, you get the impression there are people on there playing for a living. These guys are hard to beat.

i used to play the free ESPN game for fun. i decided to try draftkings this year since ESPN doesn't have its free game this year. i stick with the .25 and dollar games and the ones that only have 40 players max. the ones that pay the top 10-20 people. i've won some but am down 20 bucks so far. 5 bucks a week lost. with what is coming out now i won't play anything more than i am now and prob won't play after my money runs out.

Interesting to see if any of these businesses operated ethically now that someone opened the door and let the feds in with cheating allegations. I doubt that will be the case with so much money sloshing around in a newly created business model with self regulatory practices. Say goodbye to policing themselves for starters.
