That's right, usually I put up the Jesus was not born on December 25th thread. This year I have something else to pass along to you. There is a Gamma Ray Burst coming that will get here on December 26th. It's a magnatar burst of shockwave energy that will reach us on that day.

What does it do? Causes things like earthquakes. The last time we had one, was when that big earthquake happened off Sumatra, in Banda Aceh, and caused that quake in the ocean and the tsunami that hit Japan.

The wave that is coming will be stronger than that one. It can cause power outages, problems to the grid etc.

There is actually energy coming even now, but not as intense as what will hit on that day. The stuff coming now has been melting the ice at the poles. That's right, for all of us who have been blaming those who crank up the harp machines, well this is coming from space.

Massive Galactic Shockwave Stuns World Scientists As Antarctica is Melting 12.11.16
As our own Earth continues upon a path many Russian Scientists are warning will see an ever increasing number of catastrophic events, and leading to the breaking apart of all the world’s present civilizations, World Scientists are likewise seeing similar events now occurring in our Universe, and as we can read as reported by the United States Physics.Org News Service in their report titled "Gigantic cosmic cataclysm in Stephan's Quintet of galaxies", and which says:

"Recent infrared observations made with NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope have revealed the presence of a huge intergalactic shock wave, or "sonic boom" in the middle of Stephan's Quintet, a group of galaxies which is now the scene of a gigantic cosmic cataclysm. When astronomers using NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope turned their attention to a well-known group of galaxies called Stephan's Quintet, they were, quite simply, shocked at what they saw. There, sweeping through the group, lurks one of the biggest shock waves ever seen."

We had the first wave, that created the earthquake that caused the tsunami in Banda Aceh.

The second wave will be December 26, 2016.

Some have asked when are the ones after that? And the scientists who know those things would not say. When we look back on big quakes like the ones that hit Christchurch, New Zealand, and the one in Chile that changed the axis of the earth, we need to understand that big quakes change significant things. Changing the axis and rotation of the earth is a big deal. When the magnetic pole starts migrating away from the north pole, it is a big deal. Climate change happens as a result of these things etc.

Gamma Ray is awesome, but I prefer Kai Hansen's work in Helloween. Keeper of the Seven Keys I & II are amazing albums.

Didn't notice this until after I said Dec 26 is Saint Stephen's Day. Coincidence? You be the judge.

Cool Cool across it too (the universe) -- the MBlues' To Our Children's Children's Children will be blasting & billowing in the background that day while whizzing through the myopic void, bouncing off all the cosmic debris etc Grin

and Thank You Gina, am a weather person too & dig your posts -- as a scifi person I enjoy all the intergalactic prose -- the Northern Lights are the coolest thing I've ever seen, mayb Dec. 26 too Grin

happy holidays folks

Climate change is real.

http://english.alarabiya.net/en/perspective/photo-gallery/2016/12/21/Striking-photos-of-snow-covered-Saudi-desert.html

The actual magnetic pole shift is supposed to be 12 degrees and will come Dec 2017 and thereafter. Other scientists have said that the 12.26.16 burst will not do anything, so hopefully they are right.

Not really. I bought a pair of sneakers yesterday and that brought me a good deal of joy as they were on sale. Does that count? 😛 Grin

My flight back from Hawaii yesterday had about 5 minutes of turbulence. Maybe that was caused by the gamma ray burst.

Grin that's the ultimate gamma burst graphic bro -- weren't we all hoping to be like him on the 26th, didn't happen tho -- 'wait til next year' ( 😮 haha -- Gina's 12/22 update) -- that's the word among space cadets -- yes the void awaits, haha

True dat. And there will always be live music. In case you are tuning up, astrophysicists figure the universe is in the key of Bb. Which coincidentally or maybe not is the key of Jumpin Jack Flash.

Does anyone know how to get rid of a gamma ray burst? The damn thing came to visit on Boxing Day and doesn't get the hint to leave. I would throw him out but the S.O.B. is green and huge. Reminds me of one of my cousins. Well the free loading part anyway.

To reduce typical gamma rays by a factor of a billion, thicknesses of shield need to be about 13.8 feet of water, about 6.6 feet of concrete, or about 1.3 feet of lead. Thick, dense shielding is necessary to protect against gamma rays.

I suggest building a wall and have Gina pay for it.

How high does that sucker have to be? Plus won't they just build tunnels like the Mexicans do?

Gina - gonna need a cheque. If you were one of the lucky ones that survived the gamma ray bursts.

The ABB's very own Chicken Little.
