Statement of Congressman Brad Sherman
I am pleased that Congressman Al Green (D-TX) has joined me in filing Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump. We now begin the effort to force the House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on Obstruction of Justice and Russian interference in our election.
Recent disclosures by Donald Trump Jr. indicate that Trump’s campaign was eager to receive assistance from Russia. It now seems likely that the President had something to hide when he tried to curtail the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the wider Russian probe. I believe his conversations with, and subsequent firing of, FBI Director James Comey constitute Obstruction of Justice.
Every day Democrats, Republicans, and the entire world are shocked by the latest example of America’s amateur President. Ignorance accompanied by a refusal to learn. Lack of impulse control, accompanied by a refusal to have his staff control his impulses. We’re no longer surprised by any action, no matter how far below the dignity of the office—and no matter how dangerous to the country.
But the Constitution does not provide for the removal of a President for impulsive, ignorant incompetence. It does provide for the removal of a President for High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
As the investigations move forward, additional evidence supporting additional Articles of Impeachment may emerge. However, as to Obstruction of Justice, as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 1512 (b)(3), the evidence we have is sufficient to move forward now. And the national interest requires that we do so.
Introducing Articles of Impeachment will have two possible outcomes. First, I have slight hope it will inspire an ‘intervention’ in the White House. If Impeachment is real, if they actually see Articles, perhaps we will see incompetency replaced by care. Perhaps uncontrollable impulses will be controlled. And perhaps the danger our nation faces will be ameliorated.
Second, and more likely, filing Articles of Impeachment is the first step on a very long road. But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually—many, many months from now—Republicans will join the impeachment effort.
I author Articles of Impeachment not to change our national policy. I served with Mike Pence in Congress for twelve years and I disagree with him on just about everything. I never dreamed I would author a measure that would put him in the White House. I am introducing Articles of Impeachment to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence.”

I imagine anything would start lookin pretty good after a couple months in a fallout shelter. I'd settle for one of those mutant gorillapig things, but I won't be letting anyone or anything in on account of the radiation.
Still, that would get stale pretty quick. I'd get better mileage out of a pot plant, which I would name "Robert", a Les Paul, 15 watt amp and a couple solar panels. Finally get some uninterrupted woodsheddin in.

Forget about any proof since there is none, this Congressman alleges nothing.
Well he is a desperate Democrat who supports nothing so he fits in quite well with his loser party.
It struck me as a well thought out and civil statement, one that many Republicans surely agree with by now.
It is clear that Sherman doesn't expect this to stick, that he has more of an "intervention" in mind. He felt compelled to use the strongest tool in the Congressional kit to serve notice to Trump and his staff that his shenanigans have reached a point beyond which America's tolerance does not reach, that he is a menace, and that it is time for him to start behaving like a president.
While, as an above poster pointed out, it may be nothing more that the farcical action of a lesser light in the "loser party", the fact remains that it is reality, and having articles of impeachment out there can't be comfortable for a president. We can hope that this notice will give the president pause to correct some of his more threatening behaviors.
This document serves as a time marker for future reference, and will provide a point in time from which future Republicans can weigh their feelings on Trump, and perhaps not be intimidated from registering their discontent.
I should of added to my earlier post it was a sad day for Americans to witness what the democrats are clinging to.

Enjoyed the episodes I have seen very much. Early stuff, on TVs here and there. Missed manbearpig I guess. I've never had cable, don't watch TV at home, not since the 70s. The ads hurt my brain. Shows I like get dvd seasons from library free.

Jerry, you're confusing spelling with pronunciation.
The contraction "should've" is indeed pronounced "should of," but that is not how it is spelled. You would never write "should of" because the word "of" is a preposition; the word makes no sense when placed after "should."
You should of learned how to turn off your brain and zip your lip.

The Clintons have been the most investigated family in history, and mostly nothing has been found. Seeing how neither are in office, how about we investigate the persons who are in office and may be compromised.

The Clintons had plenty of cover during the Obama administration since Obama used his Justice Department as a political enforcement unit.
Those days are thankfully over and there are active investigations into Hillary's collusion with Russia and the Uranium One deal which also netted Bill Clinton a half million dollar payment by Russia.
